EMPORIA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabods wrapped up a 4-1 weekend at the ESU 5-State Classic with a 13-1 win over Quincy. The Ichabods will now turn their attention to MIAA play as they travel to Missouri Southern on Friday and Pittsburg State on Saturday opening the conference season.
The Ichabods, who improved to 11-3 on the season scored nine runs n the third inning sending 14 batters to the plate in the frame highlighted by a 2 RBI triple by
Ashton Friend and a 2-run homer by
Hadley Kerschen.
Bri Francis and
Autymn Schreiner also had an RBI singles and
Jenna Moore connected on an RBI double.
In the fourth, the Ichabods added four more runs on an RBI double by
Brianna Fuchs and a 2 RBI double by
Jordan Hausher and Schreiner collected another RBI with a single.
That was all the run support
Raegen Hamm would need tossing four innings of shutout ball moving her record to 7-2 in the circle.
Marrit Mead, Fuchs, Francis and Schreiner each had two hits and Schreiner scored three runs while driving in two more.
