JOPLIN, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team finished 14
th overall out of 26 team and fifth out of MIAA schools at the 31
st Annual Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday morning. Washburn will be back in action at the ESU Classic next Friday night in Emporia.
Sierra Mortensen led the Ichabods placing 23
rd overall in a time of 17:53.09, recording the best Washburn performance by an Ichabod on the 5K course. Mortensen also owned the previous time of 18:02.90 set in 2018. There were 252 individual entries overall.
Lily Johnson was 25
th in a time of 17:56.54 recording her best time on the course by nearly 65 seconds set in 2019.
Patriia Koma was 83
rd overall for the Ichabods in a time of 19:00.08 and she was followed by Luz Lopez-Gonzalez in 124
th in a time of 19:32.02,
Eve Weber in 139
th at 19:40.85.
Avery Hoffpauir was 154
th in a time of 19:54.26 with
Kelsie Dent in 155
th at 19:55.38 and
Stacy Briggs was 156
th at 19:56.59.
Verena Vesely was 172
nd in a time of 20:13.18.
Arkansas won the event with 38 points with five runners in the top 12 followed by Southwest Baptist was second with 130.
