JOPLIN, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team finished 14^th overall out of 26 team and fifth out of MIAA schools at the 31^st Annual Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday morning. Washburn will be back in action at the ESU Classic next Friday night in Emporia.
 
Sierra Mortensen led the Ichabods placing 23^rd overall in a time of 17:53.09, recording the best Washburn performance by an Ichabod on the 5K course. Mortensen also owned the previous time of 18:02.90 set in 2018. There were 252 individual entries overall.
 
Lily Johnson was 25^th in a time of 17:56.54 recording her best time on the course by nearly 65 seconds set in 2019.
 
Patriia Koma was 83^rd overall for the Ichabods in a time of 19:00.08 and she was followed by Luz Lopez-Gonzalez in 124^th in a time of 19:32.02, Eve Weber in 139^th at 19:40.85. Avery Hoffpauir was 154^th in a time of 19:54.26 with Kelsie Dent in 155^th at 19:55.38 and Stacy Briggs was 156^th at 19:56.59. Verena Vesely was 172^nd in a time of 20:13.18.
 
Arkansas won the event with 38 points with five runners in the top 12 followed by Southwest Baptist was second with 130.
