Johnson leads women's cross country team at MIAA Championships

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team finished ninth at the MIAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Up next for the Ichabods is the NCAA Central Regional in two weeks back in Joplin.
 
Lily Johnson led the Ichabods with a 31st-place finish in a time of 22:26.96. Eve Weber placed 42nd in a time of 22:44.44 and Marisa Jacober was 56th in a time of 23:19.45.
 
Lexie Fontaine placed 70th in 23:38.46 and Stacy Briggs was 72nd in a time of 23:23.93. Kelsie Dent was 77th in a time of 24:01.44 and Avery Hoffpauir was 79th in a time of 24:03.20.
 
Pittsburg State won the championship with 51 points and Nebraska-Kearney was next with 67 points followed by Northwest Missouri (78), Rogers State (95), Fort Hays State (133), Missouri Southern (139), Central Missouri (206), Missouri Western (214) and Washburn with 246 points.
