•Thanks to Mother Nature's winter weather blast hitting the Midwest this week, the Ichabods will now face Northeastern State on Feb. 5 at 3:30 p.m. and then Rogers State on Monday flipping the schedule for the Oklahoma games this weekend.

•The Ichabods knocked off then-No. 9-ranked Central Oklahoma in Lee Arena last time out in a 96-86 win snapping the Bronchos 13-game winning streak.

WASHBURN ICHABOD HEAD COACH BRETT BALLARD
•is 95-45 in his fifth season as the Ichabods' head coach and 128-75 overall in his eighth year as a head coach.
•has led the Ichabods to three NCAA postseason appearances in four full seasons at Washburn.
•was named the Washburn Ichabod men's basketball head coach on April 6, 2017 after spending the 2014-15 to 2016-17 seasons as an assistant coach with the Wake Forest basketball program after working under head coach Danny Manning 2014-17 seasons and at the University of Tulsa during the 2012-14 seasons.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE ICHABODS
(Jan. 29, 2022) TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabods' first half set the tone for their highest scoring total of the season in a 96-86 win over the No. 9-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday night in Lee Arena.
The Ichabods came out of the gates leading 14-5, forcing the Bronchos to take a timeout in the first five minutes. Washburn kept a strong lead ending the half with a 48-33 lead. The Ichabods shot almost 60 percent and made seven triples.
Jeremy Harrell led the team with 11 points, going 2-for-4 from deep.
Jalen Lewis also made two triples while scoring 10.
Washburn built the lead to 16 early in the second half before Central Oklahoma went on a 10-2 run. The Ichabods held off the Bronchos by getting to the free-throw line. The Ichabods went 19-of-20 from the charity stripe in the second half. The Bronchos down 13 with a little under four minutes remaining made the game interesting.
Bronchos' Isaiah Wade scored seven in a 9-2 run to bring Central Oklahoma to within six points.
Tyler Nelson then made two free throws, then Lewis stole the ball in the final minute to seal the game.
Despite Central Oklahoma outscoring Washburn in the second half, the Ichabods held on. Lewis led all scorers with 23 points while shooting 7-for-8 from the free thrown line.
Jonny Clausing scored a season-high 13 points while shooting 5-for-6 from the field. The Ichabods had five players score in double-digits.
Isaiah Wade led the Bronchos with 28 points.
The Ichabods outscored the Bronchos 21-10 in fast-break points and Washburn's bench had a 29 to 17 advantage avenging an overtime loss to UCO in Edmond earlier this season in a 97-87 loss.

SERIES HISTORY WITH NORTHEASTERN STATE
•Saturday's meeting will be the 19th all-time between the two schools and the Ichabods lead 10-8.
•The Ichabods have won the last eight of the last nine meetings in the series.
•The Ichabods and RiverHawks played in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with Washburn falling 64-59 on March 15, 2003 in Stephenville, Texas.
•The RiverHawks went on to win the NCAA National Championship in 2003.

LAST MEETING WITH NORTHEASTERN STATE
(Dec. 20, 2021) TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod basketball team fell in its calendar year finale in an 85-82 loss to Northeastern State on Monday afternoon in Lee Arena.Â
The Ichabods (6-6, 3-3 MIAA) held a 51-50 lead with 10:32 to go in the game before the RiverHawks would outscore Washburn 22 to 12 over a 4:41 stretch of the second half building a nine-point lead at 72-63 with 5:33 to go in the game.
Washburn trimmed the lead back to five with 5:05 to go and eventually down to four at 76-72 with 2:28 remaining after a
Jeremy Harrell jumper, but a 3-pointer on the RiverHawks' (7-4, 2-3 MIAA) possession pushed the margin back to seven with 2:15 left.
Again the Ichabods came back after a 3-pointer by
Levi Braun and a layup by
Tyler Geiman cut the lead to three with 38 seconds left at 82-79 but the Ichabods would not get any closer than three on three different occasions in the 3-point loss snapping an eight-game winning streak over Northeastern State.
The Ichabods led 37-32 at the half on the heels of hitting 7 of 15 3-pointers leading by as many as 11 midway through the opening half.
Geiman led the Ichabods with 22 points and 10 assists recording his 10th double double of his Ichabod career playing all 40 minutes. He finished 9 of 13 from the free throw line. Braun scored 17 points and Harrell had 13 points.
Christian Cook had 26 points to lead all scorers.
Washburn finished the game 25 of 60 from the field shooting 42 percent for the game and Northeastern State finished at 51 percent hitting 26 of 51 shots including a 57 percent clip in the second half after hitting 12 of 21 shots. In the first half the RiverHawks hit 1 of 4 free throws before going 26 of 30 in the second half from the free throw line. Washburn was 20 of 28 for the game from the free throw line.
