WASHBURN'S LAST TIME OUT
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Washburn women's basketball team led from start to finish in a 61-50 victory at Northeastern State on Saturday afternoon. The Ichabods will be back in action on Monday with a matinee makeup game at Rogers State starting at 1:30 p.m. in Claremore, Okla.
The Ichabods (10-10, 8-6 MIAA) scored six unanswered points to start the game held a 17-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Hunter Bentley scored 10 points in the opening frame and made all four of her shot attempts.
The RiverHawks (4-17, 2-13 MIAA) pulled within two points on three occasions in the second quarter, but a jumper from Bentley midway through the period sparked a 10-2 run to push Washburn's lead to double-figures. Northeastern State closed out the quarter making two free throws, but still trailed the Ichabods at the break, 32-24.
Washburn led by as many as 13 in the third quarter before Northeastern State scored the final four points to trim the deficit to 43-34 heading to the final stanza.
The Ichabods opened the fourth quarter on another 10-2 spurt to go up 53-36 with 6:28 left in the game. Northeastern State was unable to get within single digits for the remainder of the game as Washburn rolled to the 11-point win.
Washburn shot an even 50 percent from the field and made 7-of-15 from three-point range while limiting Northeastern State to 30.2 field goal percentage and 6-of-21 from deep. The Ichabods outrebounded the RiverHawks, 31-26, and led in blocks, 6-0.
Bentley made history for Washburn during the game as she passed Shelley Foster (1991-95) to become the program's all-time leader in minutes played with 3,982. She finished the day making 10-of-14 from the field with four three-pointers to lead the Ichabods with 24 points. Bentley also grabbed six rebounds and did not commit a turnover in 38 minutes of playing time.
Abby Oliver was 5-for-7 from the floor and dished out a team-best five assists. Mackenzie Gamble drained three triples to tally nine points and Macy Doebele added seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Maleeah Langstaff paced the RiverHawks with 16 points and seven rebounds.

TOPEKA, Kan. – Eleven different Ichabods scored and three finished with double-figures as the Washburn women's basketball team posted a 79-62 home win over Rogers State on Saturday afternoon.
Washburn (3-7, 2-3 MIAA) used a 9-3 scoring run midway through the opening quarter to go in front, 13-9. Rogers State (4-7, 0-5 MIAA) responded by scoring nine of the next 11 points to take an 18-15 advantage. Washburn closed out the final 71 seconds of the quarter with a layup from Aubree Dewey and a jumper by Abby Oliver to reclaim the lead at 19-18. The Ichabod offense was efficient and finished with a 69.2 field goal percentage in the frame.
Washburn scored the first six points of the second quarter and held Rogers State scoreless until the 6:19 mark. The three ball started to fall for Washburn to extend its lead as the Ichabods drained four triples in the final four minutes, capped off by a buzzer beater from Mackenzie Gamble to send Washburn into the break with a 38-29 lead.
The Ichabods increased their lead to double-digits and led by as many as 20 points after starting the first three minutes of the second half on a 13-2 tear. Washburn went into the final stanza holding a 57-48 advantage.
Hunter Bentley and Shae Sanchez hit back-to-back three-pointers to start the fourth quarter to make the score 63-48 in favor of Washburn. The Ichabods remained in control of the game and limited the Hillcats to just three points in five minutes and 25 seconds of game clock while Washburn scored 12 to push its lead to 77-57. Austin Broadie closed out the victory with the first bucket of her collegiate career.
The Ichabods finished the afternoon shooting 54.1 percent from the field while the Hlilcats shot 43.1 percent. Washburn dominated on the glass and outrebounded Rogers State, 46-20. The Ichabods also dished out 25 assists to the Hillcats' eight. Washburn's bench put up 32 points while Rogers State's bench had 13.
Bentley paced the Ichabods with 15 points to go with six rebounds and five assists. Oliver made 7-of-10 field goal attempts to tally 14 points on the afternoon. Sanchez also added 14 points, a season-high for her in a Washburn uniform. Nuria Barrientos led the Ichabods with six assists and Lauren Cassaday pulled down 11 rebounds.
Three Hillcats finished in double-figure points led by Julia Luna's 18.
