BLUE NOTES
• The Washburn Ichabods return to MIAA play with a pair of road doubleheaders at Lincoln on March 25 and at Central Missouri on March 26 wrapping up their 12-game roadtrip.
• Because of anticipated wet fields, the Ichabod doubleheader with Lincoln on Friday will be played in Columbia, Mo. at Battle High School.
• The Ichabods (20-11, 2-2 MIAA) will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak after going 1-3 in Colorado on Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Prior to their trip to Colorado, the Ichabods swept Newman on March 12 to open MIAA before being swept at No. 10 Central Oklahoma the following day.

Brenda Holaday is in her sixth season as the Ichabod softball head coach recording a 153-112 overall record going 69-43 in MIAA contests leading the Ichabods to their first MIAA Regular Season title in her second year in 2018 and an NCAA Central Regional berth, the fourth in school history.
THE WEEK THAT WAS
• The Ichabods were 3-5 over the past nine days in all road contests including a 2-2 start to the MIAA slate.

Autymn Schreiner led the Ichabods with a .400 batting average with 10 hits scoring four times while
Marrit Mead had 11 hits with a team-highs of two home runs, 22 total bases with a .733 slugging percentage and eight runs scored.
•
Jaycee Ginter led the Ichabods with nine RBI.
• Ginter picked up two of the three wins for the Ichabods in the circle striking out 39 in 27.3 innings pitched with three complete games.

Jaycee Ginter is tied for the national lead with 14 wins this season entering the weekend and ranked fifth in total strikeouts and 14th in strikeouts per seven innings.

Ashton Friend is ranked seventh in the nation in home runs with 10 and leads the MIAA in the category … she is also ranked 38th in RBI.
•
Autymn Schreiner leads the MIAA and is third in the nation in getting hit by a pitch with 11 and
Maddie Stipsits is 14th with eight.
• As a team the Ichabods lead the nation in being hit by a pitch … Washburn has had 40 batters reach base after getting plunked.
• Washburn is also fifth in fielding percentage, 10th in the nation in hits, 17th in on base percentage and 19th in home runs.

• Washburn is 14-3 when scoring in the first inning and 18-1 when leading after the fourth inning.
• The Ichabods are 14-0 at home this season.
MIAA PRESEASON POLL
The Washburn Ichabod softball team was tabbed sixth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll that was released prior to the start of the season by the league office.
The Ichabods picked up 117 total points trailing Missouri Western in fifth with 118 and Missouri Southern in fourth with 124. Central Oklahoma was the preseason favorite with eight first-place votes and 162 total points and Central Missouri had 158 points with six first-place votes. Rogers State was third with 142 points.
LAST TIME OUT
DENVER, Colo. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader falling 3-1 and 7-3 at Metro State.
Game 1 - Metro State 3, Washburn 1
The Washburn Ichabods got on the board first when
Hadley Kerschen singled and then after a hit batter and a single by
Jaycee Ginter, Washburn took a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first, MSCD tied the score and added two more in the bottom of the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Washburn would outhit the Roadrunners 8-5 in the game, but left 12 runners on base.
Ginter drove in the only run for the Ichabods and
Marrit Mead had two hits. In the circle, Ginter fell to 14-3 striking out 13 giving up five hits and three earned runs.
Game 2 - Metro State 7, Washburn 3
As they did in the top of the first in the opening game, the Ichabods put a run up on the scoreboard after Mead doubled to start things off and then moved to third on an
Autymn Schreiner ground out. Ginter's groundout drove in Mead as Washburn went up 1-0.
In the Roadrunners' first at bat, Metro State would score six times with five coming with two outs going up 6-1.
In the fourth, the Ichabods loaded the bases after a walk by Ginter and Kerschen then a single by
Kaylee Wagner, but a force play at the plate and a strikeout ended the threat.
Washburn put its first two batters on the bases in the top of the sixth when
Ashton Friend and Kerschen doubled, but the Ichabods finished the frame with a pair of strikeouts and a groundout coming up empty.
The Roadrunners added a solo run in the sixth to go up 7-1.
In the seventh,
Maddie Stipsits was hit by a pitch and Mead collected her second hit of the game. Ginter recorded an RBI with a single to left scoring Stipsits cutting the lead to 7-2. A groundout followed by a RBI by Kerschen trimmed the lead back to four at 7-3, but a groundout ended the game.
Mead and Stipsits each had two hits as the Ichabods recorded eight in the game. The Ichabods stranded nine runners in the nightcap as
Raegen Hamm took the loss in the circle.
Ashlie Thissen pitched the final 5 1/3 of the game allowing one earned run striking out three.

Lincoln
• The Blue Tigers are 11-10 this season and 0-4 and have lost their last six games entering the twin bill with the Ichabods.
• The Ichabods lead the series with the Blue Tigers 35-6 and have won the last 12 meetings in a row.

Central Missouri
• UCM is 8-17 this season and 2-2 in MIAA play entering the weekend.

HEAD COACH BRENDA HOLADAY
• is 153-112 in her sixth season as the Ichabod head softball coach.
• coached 19 seasons at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka compiling a 351-93 record.
• led the Junior Blues to three 6A state championships as well as winning 14 league championships earning 16 6A state tournament berths, five second-place state finishes and three third-place state finishes and was inducted into the Washburn Rural High School Hall of Fame in 2018.
• was named the Centennial League Coach of the Year and City Coach of the Year nine different times earning the Midwest Sectional Coach of the Year in 2011 and the 6A Kansas Coach of the year two times in 2008 and 2011 and was named the overall Kansas Coach of the Year in 2011.
• while at Washburn Rural, she coached more than 40 players who have gone on to play college softball including three at the NCAA Division I level including former Ichabod head softball coach Lisa Carey, the winningest coach by wins in program history.

• The Ichabods are 1226-934-1 in their 52nd year of softball.
• The Ichabods have made four NCAA Tournament appearances (1999, 2006, 2008, 2018).
