EMPORIA, Kan. – Three Washburn cross country freshmen competed at the Emporia State Invitational on Friday evening and turned in a solid outing.
Tea Bloomfield was the lone runner for the Washburn women and she completed the 5K with a time of 22:38.14 good for 31st place overall out of a field of 58 competitors. She trimmed nearly two minutes off her 5K time from the first race of the season at the Bearcat Open.
The top-finisher for the Washburn men in the 8K race was
Ryan Rochford, who crossed the finish line at 29:22.18 for 30th place out of 66 total finishers.
Milo Dekker was next with a time of 30:05.02 in 44th place. It was the first 8K collegiate race for both freshmen.
The Washburn men's and women's teams will compete next Friday, Sept. 30 in Columbia, Mo. at the Gans Creek Invitational.
