Washburn cross country teams place 18 on MIAA Academic Honor Roll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod men's and women's cross country placed 18 student-athletes on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll that was released today by the league office. In addition, Washburn placed one on the MIAA's Scholar Athlete listing and six on the MIAA Academic Excellence chart.
 
Lexie Fontaine was the only Ichabod to be named to the MIAA Scholar Athlete list after earning all-MIAA honors as well as having a grade point average of at least 3.88. The Occupational Therapy Assistant major earned all-region honors after finishing 11th at the NCAA Central Regional and placed 19th at the MIAA Championships to earned honorable mention all-MIAA honors.
 
Sebastiaan Horselenberg (public administration), Logan Montgomery (nursing), Devin Trent (biochemistry), Ayva Darmento (mass media), Cheyenne Hittle (accounting) and Kenzie Ross (kinesiology) were all named to the MIAA Academic Excellence listing for their 4.0 cumulative grade point averages.
 
The 18 Ichabod student-athletes named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll include:
Alex Adams (Kinesiology), Sebastiaan Horselenberg (Public Administration), Logan Montgomery (Nursing), Devin Trent (Biochemistry), Layne Whisler (Physics), Aidan Junior (Nursing), Trent Zimbelman (Data Analytics), Ryan Rochford (Kinesiology), Donald Kibet (Nursing), Shane Mullen (Economics), Tommy Roehl (Data Analytics), Grady Buessing (Exploratory), Ayva Darmento (Mass Media), Cheyenne Hittle (Accounting), Kenzie Ross (Kinesiology), Riley Britton (Political Science), Lexie Fontaine (Occupational Therapy Assistant), Riley Ammons (Biology) and Misti Schlabach (Biochemistry).
 
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
The teams newcomers will be eligible for the awards at the conclusion of the spring semester after recording their two terms of attendance at Washburn.
