Ichabod cross country teams honored for academic work

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The 2025 All-Academic Athletes and All-Academic Teams for the 2025 the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the Women's and Men's Cross Country season were announced on Thursday as both teams were honored for their academic work this past season. 

The Ichabod men's team had a combined grade point average of 3.58 and the women's squad had a combined GPA of 3.79. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

Jordyn Cleary (Mass Media), Grace Collins(Kinesiology), Jolie Evans (Kinesiology), Lexie Fontaine (Health Services Administration) and Kyla Lochtefeld (Criminal Justice) were all honored on the women's side while Sebastiaan Horselenberg (Public Administration), Donald Kibet (Nursing), Lukas Mehl (Computer Information Science), Shane Mullen   (Economics) and Tommy Roehl (Data Analytics) were named to the men's list.

Overall, the Ichabod women's team tied for the seventh-best team grade point average.

This past season, the Washburn men's cross country recorded its best program-best, 22nd-place finish in the fall at the NCAA Division II National Championships as Donald Kibet recorded a 16th-place individual finish for the best individual showing in program history. 
Kyla Lochtefeld, who was the first Ichabod women's national champion qualifier since 2017, finished 96th overall out of 263 runners, finished the 6K course in a time of 21:46.4. Her time was the fastest time by an Ichabod women's runner at the national championships and was the fifth-fastest 6K time in program history.
