COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team finished fourth at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. out of 12 teams besting four MIAA schools in the process. Washburn returns to action Oct. 14 at the Hornet Harrier Invitational.
Lily Johnson led the Ichabod harriers with a 13
th-place finish with a time of 22:59.8 on the 6K course.
Eve Weber recorded a top-20 finish on the nose in a time of 23:26.7.
Marisa Jacober finished 27
th in a time of 24:02.9 and
Stacy Briggs was 30
th with a time of 24:07.6.
Lexie Fontaine placed 33
rd in a time of 24:12.6.
Kelsie Dent finished 43
rd with a time of 24:27.4.
St. Mary (Kan.) won the event with 43 team points and Fort Hays State placed second with 55 points. William Woods finished with 114 points while the Ichabods had 123 for fourth. Central Missouri was fifth (136) followed by Missouri Western (176), Emporia State (195) and Rockhurst was eighth (198).
The Ichabods were ninth after the first 1000m as a team and then after remaining in ninth at the 2000m mark, the Ichabods climbed to fifth at the 3000m mark and was still in fifth as a team at the 4000m point of the race. Washburn climbed to fourth at the 5000m mark and remained in fourth until the end of the race.
