No. 23 Washburn returns to Topeka to face Lions and No. 8 Jennies

TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 23 Washburn Ichabod returns from the Show Me State to play host to two teams from Missouri taking on the Lions at 6 p.m. on Friday Oct. 13, and the No. 8 Jennies in a ranked matchup on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. 
 

KICKOFF

  • No. 23 Washburn soccer returns to Topeka for its final full week of regular season action in the capital city with matches against Missouri Southern and No. 8 Central Missouri .
  • The Ichabods will face the Lions at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13 and the Jennies on Sunday Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. 

BOD BREAKDOWN

  • Washburn is 10-1-1 so far in the 2023 season. 
  • The Ichabods went 11-6-2 in 2022 and finished sixth in the MIAA. 
  • WU is currently tied for first in the MIAA through five conference matches with UCM and Fort Hays State. 
  • Washburn set a new program record with nine straight wins and has currently not lost in 10 matches, the most for the program since 2006.
  • The Ichabods are ranked No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches Association national poll, moving up from No. 25 last week. They are also ranked No. 3 in the central region rankings. 
  • Washburn returns 19 players from last seasons roster while adding two transfers and seven freshmen.

A LOOK AT LAST WEEK

  • Washburn went on the road for the first time in conference play and won 1-0 against Missouri Western and drew to a 1-1 tie with Northwest Missouri. 
  • The Ichabods reset a program record with nine straight wins after knocking off MWSU. The tie against the Bearcats was the first tie of the season. 
  • Raegan Wells started both games over the weekend playing all 180 minutes and making seven total saves. She recorded her sixth solo shutout in the win over the Griffons. 
  • Belle Kennedy and Mackinly Rohn connected with eachother on both goals over the weekend with Rohn dishing to Kennedy in Friday evening's match and Kennedy setting up Rohn in the first goal of the match on Sunday. 
  • Jordan Tenpas and Josie Boyle each played all 90 minutes of both matches helping to allow just one goal over the weekend. 
  • After the week the Ichabods are now 3-1-1 in true road contests. 

STACKING STATS

  • Washburn is 24th in the nation out of 249 teams averaging 1.75 assists per match, that number is first among MIAA teams. 
  • The Ichabods are tied for 11th in the nation in win-loss-tied percentage and are first in the MIAA. 
  • Washburn is 40th in the nation in points per game averaging 5.92, first in the MIAA. 
  • The Ichabods are first or tied for first in the MIAA in total points, total goals, total assists, total points, shutouts and scoring offense. 
  • Aubrey Tanksley is tied for second nationally in game-winning goals with four on the year. 
  • Mackinly Rohn is tied for fifth in the nation in assists with seven and tied for 13th in assists per game. She has the top spot in the MIAA in both. 
  • Rohn and Ana Muruzabal are tied for third in the MIAA in total points. 
  • Raegan Wells is tied for 10th in the nation and for first in the MIAA in shutouts with six.

BLUE REPORT

  • Ana Muruzabal leads Washburn in goals with five and in is tied for the lead in points with 13, doing so in 403 minutes of total action. Eleven of her 16 total shots have been on goal.
  • Mackinly Rohn leads the Ichabods and conference with seven assists on the year. She's also scored three goals to tie for the team lead with 13 points. She has started 10 of 12 matches and logged 704 minutes as a freshman. 
  • Khloe Schuckman has eight points on the year with three goals and two assists in 816 minutes. She leads the team with 22 shots taken. 
  • Aubrey Tanksley has scored four goals on the year on only 12 total shots. All four goals have been game winners, the most on the team. She has started two matches and played a total of 538 minutes.  
  • Viviana Soto-Herrera has three goals and one assist on the year and is second on the Ichabods with 17 shots taken this year. She has stared all 12 matches and is third among non-goalies with 745 minutes. 
  • Lakin Rold leads all Ichabod non-goalies in minutes with 909 this season. She has started all 12 matches giving her 31 consecutive starts to begin her Washburn career. She also has one assist on the year. 
  • Raegan Wells has made 25 saves this season in 1,035 minutes. She has one six solo shutouts and combined with Hailey Beck and Alli Harrington to complete a seventh. 
  • Riley Wells also has a goal and two assists on the year. She has taken eight total shots and has started all 12 matches. 
  • Taylor Bockover and Grace Peterson have each started all 12 matches this seaosn, logging 728 and 583 minutes respectively. 
  • Jadyn Allen has two goals and one assist on the year, logging 493 minutes off the bench.
  • Lindsey Maul missed four matches but has accumulated 474 minutes in the other eight with four starts. 
  • Josie Boyle has started all eight matches since returning from injury, playing 704 minutes with one goal. 
  • Belle Kennedy has started all 12 matches playing 684 minutes, she is second on the Ichabods with 19 shots and has one goal and one assist.
  • Cloe Quintana has logged 553 minutes off the bench and appeared in all 12 matches. 
  • All twenty-nine players on the Ichabod roster have appeared in at least one match this season.

  • Raegan Wells is less than 46 minutes away from 6,000 career minutes played as an Ichabod.

LOOKING AHEAD

  • Washburn begins a three match road trip first with a Friday contest against Central Oklahoma Oct. 20 then face Newman on Sunday, Oct. 22
  • The Ichabods end the regular season at home against Emporia State on Oct. 29 which will be senior day
  • The MIAA Championship Tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 3 with the quarterfinals taking place on campus sites of top-4 seeds

Match #13 - vs Missouri Southern

  • Sade Boswell is in her second season leading Missouri Southern. 
  • The Lions are 0-10-2 on the year after a 2-1 home loss to Rogers State on Oct. 8.
  • They are 0-4-1 in the MIAA and 0-6-1 on the road. 
  • MSU went 2-14-1 last season and 2-8-1 in the MIAA. They missed out on qualifying for the MIAA Tournament. 
  • Mya Greenquist and Aisley Stevens lead Missouri Southern with two goals each on the year. 
  • Jori Hays also has four points on the season, she leads the Lions with two assists as well as 18 shots.  
  • Sofia Fatino leads Missouri Southern in minutes with 1,070 she has one assist on the year. 
  • Three players have one assist on the year for the Lions. 
  • Three players have started games in goal for MSU, Bella Smith has the most games played with six, she has made 18 saves. 
  • Missouri Southern is scoring 0.58 goals per contest on 7.2 shots per match while allowing 2.22 goals on 12.8 shots. 
  • Washburn is 13-9-6 against Missouri Southern all-time dating back to 2003. The Ichabods won 4-1 on the road last year. 

Match #14 - vs No. 8 Central Missouri

  • Lewis Theobald is in year 16 as head coach of the Jennis. 
  • Central Missouri is 9-2-1 on the season and are ranked No. 8 in the latest USCA poll. 
  • The Jennies are 4-0-1 in the MIAA and 5-2-1 on the road this season. 
  • Last season UCM was 19-2-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the MIAA. They won the MIAA Tournament and lost in the NCAA Central Region Finals. 
  • Mikayla Ernst leads the Jennies with five goals and 12 points on the year, she has played 635 minutes and has 15 total shots on goal. 
  • Ryann Clark leads Central Missouri with three assists in 649 minutes, she also has two goals. 
  • Caroline Cole has eight points on three goals and two assists, she is tied for the team lead with 31 shots on the year. 
  • Emma Burden leads Central Missouri with 1,045 minutes. 
  • Kristen Wright has 25 saves to lead the Jennies. She has a .893 save percentage and has six solo shutouts. 
  • Ten different players have scored a goal for the UCM in 2023. 
  • Central Missouri is averaging 1.83 goals per game on 16.3 shots while opponents are scoring 0.33 goals and taking 6.2 shots. 
  • Washburn is 5-25-1 against Central Missouri all-time going back to 2003. The Ichabods lost 2-0 on the road last season.
