No. 25 Ichabods go to Show Me State for matches with Griffons and Bearcats

TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 25 Washburn leaves behind Topeka and goes east for two weekend matches, against Missouri Western at 7 p.m. on Friday and the Bearcats at 1 p.m. on Sunday. 

KICKOFF

  • No. 25 Washburn soccer travels east for a weekend away in Missouri taking on Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri. 
  • The Ichabods will face the Griffons at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 and the Bearcats on Sunday Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. 

BOD BREAKDOWN

  • Washburn is 9-1-0 so far in the 2023 season. 
  • The Ichabods went 11-6-2 in 2022 and finished sixth in the MIAA. 
  • WU is currently first in the MIAA through three matches and the only team with three wins. 
  • Washburn is on a eight match winning streak, the longest in program history breaking the record of seven set in the 2008 season. 
  • The Ichabods are ranked No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches Association national poll. It's the first time appearing in the poll since Sep. 25, 2007. They are also ranked No. 3 in the Central Region poll.  
  • Washburn returns 19 players from last seasons roster while adding two transfers and seven freshmen.

A LOOK AT LAST WEEK

  • Washburn completed a four-match home stand with a 1-0 win over Rogers State and a 2-0 decision against Northeastern State. 
  • Raegan Wells started and won both games in goal over the weekend. She earned her fourth and fifth solo shutouts of the season and made three total saves in the matches. She was named MIAA Co-Goalkeeper of the Week. 
  • Aubrey Tanksley scored her fourth goal of the season in the 80th minute on Friday. All four of her goals on the season have been game-winners. 
  • Mackinly Rohn and Ana Muruzabal each scored first half goals in the win over the RiverHawks. Jadyn Allen and Riley Painter earned assists. 
  • The Ichabods held opponents to only seven total shots over the weekend. Jordan Tenpas and Josie Boyle both played all 180 minutes on defense. 
  • After the week the Ichabods now 6-0 at Yager Stadium

STACKING STATS

  • Washburn is 12th in the nation out of 249 teams averaging 1.90 assists per match, that number is first among MIAA teams. 
  • The Ichabods are tied for seventh in the nation in win-loss-tied percentage and first in the MIAA. 
  • Washburn is 27th in the nation in points per game averaging 6.5, first in the MIAA. 
  • The Ichabods are first or tied for first in the MIAA in total points, total goals, total assists, total points, shutouts and scoring offense. 
  • Aubrey Tanksley is tied for first nationally in game-winning goals with four on the year. 
  • Mackinly Rohn is tied for sixth in the nation in assists with six and tied for 14th in assists per game. She is tied for the top spot in the MIAA in both. 
  • Ana Muruzabal is tied for 44th nationally and is second in the conference in total points.
  • Raegan Wells is tied for 6th in the nation and tied for first in the MIAA in shutouts with five.

BLUE REPORT

  • Ana Muruzabal leads Washburn in goals with five and in points with 13, doing so in only 333 minutes of total action. Ten of her 14 total shots have been on goal.
  • Mackinly Rohn leads the Ichabods with six assists on the year along with two goals. She has started the last seven matches and logged 580 minutes as a freshman. 
  • Khloe Schuckman has eight points on the year with three goals and two assists in 659 minutes. She leads the team with 18 shots taken. 
  • Aubrey Tanksley has scored four goals on the year on only 11 total shots. All four goals have been game winners, the most on the team. She has started two matches and played a total of 450 minutes.  
  • Viviana Soto-Herrera has three goals and one assist on the year and is second on the Ichabods with 17 shots taken this year. She has stared all 10 matches and is second among non-goalies with 636 minutes. 
  • Lakin Rold leads all Ichabod non-goalies in minutes with 765 this season. She has started all 10 matches giving her 29 consecutive starts to begin her Washburn career. She also has one assist on the year. 
  • Riley Wells also has a goal and two assists on the year. She has taken six total shots and has started all 10 matches. 
  • Taylor Bockover and Grace Peterson have each started all 10 games this seaosn, logging 589 and 472 minutes respectively. 
  • Raegan Wells has made 18 saves this season in 855 minutes. She has one five solo shutouts and combined with Hailey Beck and Alli Harrington to complete a sixth. 
  • Jadyn Allen has two goals and one assist on the year, logging 407 minutes off the bench.
  • Lindsey Maul missed four matches but has accumulated 405 minutes in the other six with four starts. 
  • Josie Boyle has started all six matches since returning from injury, playing 524 minutes with one goal. 
  • Belle Kennedy has started all 10 matches playing 551 minutes, she is third on the Ichabods with 15 shots this season. 
  • Cloe Quintana has logged 452 minutes off the bench and appeared in all 10 matches. 
  • All twenty-nine players on the Ichabod roster have appeared in at least one match this season.

MILESTONE MARKERS

LOOKING AHEAD

  • Washburn returns back to Topeka next weekend to face Missouri Southern and No. 8 Central Missouri on Friday and Sunday respectively.
  • The Ichabods end the regular season at home against Emporia State on Oct. 29 which will be senior day
  • The MIAA Championship Tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 3 with the quarterfinals taking place on campus sites of top-4 seeds 

OPPONENT QUICK SCOUT
Match #11 - at Missouri Western

  • Jacob Plocher is in his first season leading Missouri Western
  • The Griffons are 3-3-4 on the year after a 2-2 tie on the road against Fort Hays State. 
  • They are 1-0-2 in the MIAA and 1-2-1 on the road. 
  • MWSU went 5-10-4 last season and 3-6-2 in the MIAA. They missed out on qualifying for the MIAA Tournament. 
  • Jaden Skinner has 15 points this season to lead Missouri Western. She has scored a team-high seven goals with one assist in 634 minutes. 
  • Kendall Knisley has 10 points on four goals and is tied for a team-high with two assists in 646 minutes.  
  • Lauren Nylund also has two assists on the year and leads all Griffons in minutes played with 875. 
  • Only four players have scored goals for Missouri Western. 
  • Keeley Kroonenberg has 30 saves for the Griffons in 809 minutes. She has a .732 save percentage with one shutout. 
  • MWSU is scoring 1.40 goals per contest on 10 shots per match while allowing 1.10 goals on 10 shots. 
  • Washburn is 13-12-0 against Missouri Western all-time dating back to 2005. The Ichabods won 1-0 at home last year. 

Match #12 - vs Northwest Missouri

  • Marc Gordon is in year six as head coach of the Bearcats. 
  • Northwest Missouri is 3-4-3 on the season following a 0-0 tie Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday. 
  • The Bearcats are 0-2-1 in the MIAA and 3-1-1 at home this season. 
  • Last season NWMSU was 13-5-3 overall and 8-3 in the MIAA. They lost in the MIAA semifinals and the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • Kaylie Rock leads the Bearcats with 10 points on four goals and two assists. She has missed two games and has played 508 total minutes. 
  • Ximena Arnau has three assists on the year to pace NWMSU. She is second on the team with seven total points, adding two goals. 
  • Adell Gore has six points on two goals and two assists in 477 minutes.
  • Sydney Mueller leads Northwest Missouri with 823 minutes. 
  • Lily Ellis has 24 saves in six games to lead the Bearcats. She has a .750 save percentage and has two solo shutouts. 
  • Northwest Missouri is averaging 1.40 goals per game on 14.9 shots while opponents are scoring 1.2 goals and taking 11.5 shots. 
  • Washburn is 15-10-4 against Northwest Missouri all-time going back to 2003. The Ichabods lost both matches last season including in the MIAA Tournament.
