EMPORIA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's and women's cross country teams sent seven runners down to the Emporia State Invitational on Friday night. All three competing women and men had their fastest times of the season on the 5K course. The Ichabods will be in action Oct. 20 at the MIAA Championships in Columbia, Mo. at Gans Creek.
Women
Cheyenne Hittle led a trio of Ichabods with a 26
th-place finish with a time of 20:22.65 over the 5K course. The time was her fastest in her Ichabod career by 2:20.
Avery Winter was 36
th in a time of 21:15.33. Winter's time was nearly 90 seconds faster than her best time of the season.
Leah Spurlock finished 40
th with a time of 21:47.44 besting her fastest time of the season by nearly 10 seconds.
Men
Shane Mullen led the Ichabods finishing in 19
th-place overall in a time of 27:01.89, just ahead of teammate
Aidan Junior one spot behind in a time of 27:04.95.
Ryan Rochford finished in 35
th overall with a time of 28:34.70 and
Jaemon Smith was 37
th in a time of 28:40.51. Mullen's time was just over two minutes faster than his best time of the season on an 8K course while Junior's time was almost two minutes faster than his best time this year as well. Rochford shaved almost 90 seconds of his best time this season and Smith's mark was almost 2:40 faster than his best time this season.
