TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 8 Washburn is staying home to begin postseason play as they host the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at Yager Stadium against Missouri Western State.
KICKOFF
- No. 8 nationally ranked Washburn soccer begins the MIAA Championship Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will face the No. 8 seed Missouri Western State in the Quarterfinals.
- The Ichabods will face the Griffons at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 at Yager Stadium there will be a $5 charge for attendance.
TOURNEY TIME!
- All quarterfinal matches of the MIAA Tournament take place on Friday on campus sites of the top four seeds.
- Central Missouri, Fort Hays State and Emporia State earned the other three top seeds respectively.
- With a win Washburn would advance onto the semifinals where they would face the winner of No. 4 Emporia State and No. 5 Northwest Missouri State at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9
- All semifinals matches and the championship match will be played at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan.
- The Championship match will be played at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11
BOD BREAKDOWN
- Washburn finished the regular season 15-2-1 and won the second MIAA Regular Season Championship in program history.
- The Ichabods went 9-1-1 in the MIAA with the loss coming after the championship was clinched.
- With 15 wins Washburn is tied for the most wins in program history set previously in 2006 when WU went 15-1-6
- The Ichabods went 11-6-2 in 2022 and finished sixth in the MIAA.
- With the loss on Sunday a 15 match streak without a loss was ended as the longest in program history.
- The Ichabods are ranked No. 1 in the first ordered Regional Rankings of the year for the Central Region and are No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Association national poll.
- Washburn returns 19 players from last seasons roster while adding two transfers and seven freshmen.
A LOOK AT LAST WEEK
- Washburn went on the road for a 1-0 win over Fort Hays State on Friday and lost the regular season finale at home to Emporia State 1-0 on Sunday.
- The Ichabods clinched a share of the MIAA Regular Season Championship with the win on Friday and won the title outright later that night after a Cental Missouri tie.
- Raegan Wells started both games over the weekend playing all 180 minutes and making seven total saves. She recorded her 10th solo shutout of the season against the Tigers.
- Khloe Schuckman scored the only goal of the weekend unassisted on Friday night.
- Josie Boyle was the only non-goalie to play all 90 minutes of both matches, helping the Ichabods pick up shutout number 11 of the year on Friday night.
- After the week the Ichabods are now 8-1 in Yager Stadium and 6-1-1 in true road contests.
ALL CONFERENCE AWARDS
- Washburn set a program record with nine players named to All-MIAA teams announced on Nov. 1.
- The Ichabods also took home four individual awards, the most of any team in the conference.
- Davy Phillips was named the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.
- Raegan Wells was named the MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year and was a first team selection.She has recieved MIAA recognition four times in her career now.
- Jordan Tenpas was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year in her first season for the Ichabods along with being a first team selection.
- Mackinly Rohn was picked as a Co-Freshman of the Year and was a member of the second team as a forward.
- Khloe Schuckman and Belle Kennedy both earned first team recognition at forward and midfield respectively.
- Viviana Soto-Herrera was also a second team member as a midfielder
- Taylor Bockover earned third team honors as a defender.
- Josie Boyle and Ana Muruzabal were honorable mentions at defender and forward respectively.
STACKING STATS
- Washburn is 54th in the nation out of 251 teams averaging 1.44 assists per match, that number is second among MIAA teams.
- The Ichabods are 10th in the nation in win-loss-tied percentage and are first in the MIAA.
- WU is 54th in the nation in points per match averaging 5.75, tied for first in the MIAA.
- The Ichabods are tied for first in the MIAA in total points and are second in both assists and goals.

- Ana Muruzabal leads Washburn in goals with seven and and in points with 17, doing so off the bench in 599 minutes of total action. Fourteen of her 21 total shots have been on goal.
- Khloe Schuckman has 16 points on the year and is second on the team in both goals and assists with six and three respectively. She has logged 1,195 minutes and leads WU with 38 shots. She received a red card in the match against Emporia State and will miss the quarterfinals match against the Griffons.
- Mackinly Rohn leads the Ichabods with seven assists on the year. She's also scored three goals to sit third on the team with 13 points. She has started all but two matches and logged 1,037 minutes as a freshman.
- Viviana Soto-Herrera has five goals and two assists on the year and is second on the Ichabods with 24 shots taken. She has stared all 17 matches she has appeared in and played 1,060 total minutes.
- Raegan Wells has made 41 saves this season in 1,575 minutes. She has 10 solo shutouts and combined with Hailey Beck and Alli Harrington to complete an eleventh. She has a .820 save percentage on the year with 104 shots faced.

- Jacob Plocher is in his first season leading Missouri Western
- The Griffons finished the regular season 5-7-6 overall and in eighth place in the MIAA.
- They went 3-4-4 in the MIAA and 3-2-4 on the road.
- MWSU went 5-10-4 last season and 3-6-2 in the MIAA. They missed out on qualifying for the MIAA Tournament.
