No. 1 Ichabods host No. 5 Jennies on Sunday in NCAA second round

TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 1 seed Washburn soccer continues its NCAA Central Regional run on Sunday at 1 p.m. as they host the No. 5 seed Central Missouri with the winner advancing to the third round beginning on Dec. 1.  

KICKOFF 

  • Washburn hosts No. 5 Central Missoui at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19 for the second round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament.  

THE BIG DANCE 

  • Washburn hosts the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament after earning the No. 1 seed in the Central Region.  

  • This is the third ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Washburn, and the first since the 2008 season.  

  • The Ichabods are 3-2 in NCAA Tournament matches in program history after winning on Friday.  
  • The third round of the NCAA Tournament will be played on Dec. 1 


BOD BREAKDOWN 

  • WU enters the match with a 17-3-1 record.  

  • Washburn finished the regular season 15-2-1 and won the second MIAA Regular Season Championship in program history.  

  • The Ichabods went 9-1-1 in the MIAA with the only loss coming to Emporia State in the last match of the season.  

  • Washburn set a new program record with its 17th win on Friday after they topped the previous high of 15 earlier in the season.  

  • The Ichabods went 11-6-2 in 2022 and finished sixth in the MIAA.  

  • Washburn has never advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before.  

  • The Ichabods return 19 players from last seasons roster while adding two transfers and seven freshmen. 

FLASHBACK TO FRIDAY  

  • Washburn defeated the No. 8 seed Quachita Baptist 1-0 in overtime.  

  • The win was the first NCAA Tournament win for head coach Davy Phillips and for any player on the Ichabod roster.  

  • Khloe Schuckman scored the match's only goal in the 98th minute un-assisted.  

  • Raegan Wells recorded five saves for her 11th solo shutout of the season. 

  • Cloe Quintana, Jordan Tenpas and Josie Boyle each played all 110 minutes of the match assisting in the shutout effort.  

  • Washburn took 19 shots with 10 on goal while holding the Tigers to seven shots.  

BLUE REPORT 

  • Ana Muruzabal leads Washburn in goals with eight and is tied for first in points with 19, doing so off the bench in 692 minutes of total action. Fifteen of her 23 total shots have been on goal. 

  • Khloe Schuckman has 19 points on the year and is second on the team in both goals and assists with seven and five respectively. She has logged 1,381 minutes and leads WU with 46 shots. She has scored at least two points in six of the last seven matches.  

  • Mackinly Rohn leads the Ichabods with seven assists on the year. She's also scored three goals to sit third on the team with 13 points. She has started all but two matches and logged 1,242 minutes as a freshman.  

  • Viviana Soto-Herrera has five goals and two assists on the year and is second on the Ichabods with 32 shots taken. She has stared all 20 matches she has appeared in and played 1,315 total minutes.  

  • Raegan Wells has made 54 saves this season in 1,885 minutes. She has 11 solo shutouts and combined with Hailey Beck and Alli Harrington to complete an twelth. She has a .794 save percentage on the year with 131 shots faced. She has started all 21 matches.  

  • Aubrey Tanksley has scored four goals on the year on 25 shots. All four goals have been game winners. She has started three matches and played a total of 1,008 minutes. She has recorded two assists total, both coming in MIAA Tournament.  

  • Taylor Bockover leads all Ichabod non-goalies in minutes with 1,493. She has started all 21 matches this season.  

  • Lakin Rold is third on the team overall with 1,452 minutes this season. She has started all 21 matches she has played in giving her 40 consecutive starts to begin her Washburn career. She also has one assist on the year.  

  • Riley Wells has three goals and three assists on the year. She has taken 15 total shots and has started all 21 matches while playing 1,107 minutes. 

  • Grace Peterson have each started all 20 matches this season, logging 1,170 minutes from the midfield.  

  • Josie Boyle has started all 16 matches she has played in this season, she has logged 1,428 minutes with one goal. 

  • Jordan Tenpas has started all 16 matches on defense she has played this year, logging 1,390 minutes in that time with one assist. 

  • Jadyn Allen has three goals and one assist on the year, logging 772 minutes off the bench. 

  • Lindsey Maul missed five matches with injuries but has accumulated 1,011 minutes in the other matches with seven total starts and two goals with one game-winner.  

  • Belle Kennedy has started all 20 matches playing 1,196 minutes, she is second on the Ichabods with 26 shots and has three goals and one assist. She missed the first round match with an injury.  

  • Cloe Quintana has logged 1,026 minutes off the bench with one start and appeared in all 21 matches.  

  • All twenty-nine players on the Ichabod roster have appeared in at least one match this season. 

OPPONENT QUICK SCOUT  

  • The Jennies advance to the second round after defeating No. 4 Minnesota State – Mankato 2-0 on Friday.  

  • UCM got goals from Andree Orcutt and Lexi Ruf in the match and Maddie Meehan recorded a shutout in her first start in goal of the season.  

  • Central Missouri is 16-4-2 on the season and are 6-3-1 away from home.  

  • The Jennies are the No. 5 seed in the central region after finishing in second place in the MIAA regular season and as the runner-up in the MIAA Championship Tournament.  

  • Last season UCM was 19-2-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the MIAA. They won the MIAA Tournament and lost in the NCAA Central Region Finals.  

  • Lewis Theobald is in year 16 as head coach of the Jennies. 

  • Washburn defeated Central Missouri 1-0 at home earlier in the season with Khloe Schuckman scoring the match winning goal in the first half. 

  • Ashleigh Martin leads the Jennies with 18 points on the year coming on five goals and eight assists. She has started and played all 22 matches.  

  • Lexie Ruff has eight goals to pace UCM and has done so in just 890 minutes. She adds one assist for 17 points on the year.  

  • Caroline Cole has 15 points on six goals and three assists.  

  • Emma Burden leads Central Missouri with 1,831 minutes.  

  • Kristen Wright has 51 saves to lead the Jennies. She has a .850 save percentage and has nine solo shutouts.  

  • Central Missouri is averaging 2.00 goals per game on 15.7 shots while opponents are scoring 0.45 goals and taking 6.3 shots.  

  • Washburn is 6-25-1 against Central Missouri all-time going back to 2003 after the win earlier in the season.  


MILESTONE MARKERS 

  • Raegan Wells is tied for the most career saves at 333 and needs one more to break the all-time program record.  

  • Khloe Schuckman is now third in Washburn history with 51 career points after scoring the game-winning goal on Friday.  

  • Riley Wells needs one more point to reach 20 in her career.  

  • Ana Muruzabal is one point away from 20 in her Ichabod career all coming this season.  


LOOKING AHEAD 

  • With a win Washburn will move into the third round of the NCAA Tournament and face the winner of No. 2 Emporia State and No. 6 Bemidji State.
