TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn soccer is final four bound and will be heading to North Carolina to compete in the National Semifinals on Thursday against Adelphi University at 2 p.m. (EST) at the Sportplex at Matthews complex in Matthews, SC.
KICKOFF
- Washburn soccer continues it's NCAA Tournament run into the final four this Thursday against Adelphi University in the National Semifinals.
- The Ichabods will face the Panthers for the first time in program history at 2 p.m. EST in Matthews, North Carolina at the Sportsplex at Matthews complex.
- Washburn advances to the first final four in program history after a 1-0 win in the National Quarterfinals over Grand Valley State.
THE BIG DANCE
- Washburn won the Central Region Championship for the first time in program history with a 2-1 victory over Emporia State and continued its winning ways through the quarterfinal round in Ashland, Ohio.
- All four remaining teams were re-seeded with the Ichabods being selected as the No. 3 seed and Adelphi at No. 2. On the other side of the bracket No. 1 Florida Tech will face No. 4 Point Loma at 10 a.m. CST on Friday.
- The championship match of the NCAA Tournament will be played on Saturday Dec. 9 at 12 p.m. EST
- This is the third ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Washburn, and the first since the 2008 season.
- The Ichabods are 6-2 in NCAA Tournament matches in program history after adding four wins to begin this tournament run.

BOD BREAKDOWN
- WU enters the match with a 20-3-1 record.
- They advance to the final four after a 2-1 win over Emporia State in the round of 16 and a 1-0 victory against Grand Valley State in the National Quarterfinals.
- Washburn finished the regular season 15-2-1 and won the second MIAA Regular Season Championship in program history.

HOW WE GOT HERE
- Washburn's NCAA Tournament run began with a 2OT victory over the No. 8 seed Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 17.
- The Ichabods played and won a second straight overtime match on Nov. 19 as they came from behind to defeat No. 5 Central Missouri 3-2.
- They continued to face MIAA teams, defeating Emporia State in the Central Region Championship match 2-1 on Dec. 1.
- Finally they advanced to the final four on a 1-0 win over Grand Valley State on Dec. 3. in Ashland, Ohio.
- Khloe Schuckman has scored five goals in the tournament run with three going for game winners and two coming in overtime. She scored overtime goals in each of the first two matches.
- Aubrey Tanksley scored a goal with two seconds remaining in regulation against Central Missouri to tie the match at two and keep the season alive.
- Raegan Wells has played every minute of the tournament and recorded two shutouts.
- Grace Peterson scored the match winning goal against Grand Valley State in the 81st minute.

REGIONAL RECOGNITION
- Jordan Tenpas was a first-team D2CCA All-Region selection as a defender, the first Ichabod to land on the first team since Lisa Fahey in 2008.
- Raegan Wells and Khloe Schuckman both landed on the second team as they earned the honors for the first times in their career.
- Head coach Davy Phillips and assistant coach Jessica Hillebert were named the 2023 Central Region Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches Association for the first time in their careers.

- Adelphi University enters the final four with a 15-3-5 record on the year
- They defeated Gannon University 1-0 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals
- Before that they knocked off the No. 1 seed The College of Saint Rose 4-2 in Pk's to win the East Region Championship.
- Last season the Panthers went 12-6-2 and lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
