The Washburn Ichabod men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this weekend at the University of Arkansas taking part in the Chili Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
WASHBURN ENTRIES
The Washburn Ichabod men's team are scheduled to have 10 competitors in the event including

WASHBURN REGIONAL/NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Washburn Ichabod men's cross country team remained at No. 7 in the USTFCCCA Central Regional Preseason Poll for the second-straight week. In the national poll released on Sept. 27, the Ichabods received votes.
MIAA PRESEASON POLLS
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod men's cross country team was picked fourth and the women's squad was picked ninth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Polls that were released prior to the start of the season.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE ICHABODS
MEN
JOPLIN, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod men's cross country team placed ninth overall out of 16 teams recording two top-13 finishes at the Missouri Southern Stampede Friday in Joplin, Mo.
David Kibet paced the Ichabod runners finishing eighth overall in a time of 25:25.87 over the 8K course. Ichabod newcomer
Donald Kibet finished 13th overall in a tie of 26:03.20.
Leo Cossham finished 49th overall in a time of 27:11.40.
Gabriel Chinya finished 42nd in a time of 26:53.84 and
Daniel Alamilla was 59th in a time of 27:28.66.
Sam Steinlicht completed the course in a time of 27:38.72 to finish 68th overall while
Nick Petrella was 80th in a time of 28:06.67 and
Paul Kamp was 82nd in a time of 28:08.41.
Rafael Montemayor was 99th in a time of 28:28.41 followed by
Aidan Junior in 109th in a time of 28:46.60.
Shane Mullen placed 127th in a time of 29:10.02 and
Ryan Rochford was 154th overall in a time of 30:28.56 and
Jaemon Smith was 171st in a time of 31:02.23.
East Central had the first-, fourth-, sixth-, eleventh-, and 16th-place finishers to win the meet with 38 points. New Mexico Highlands was second with 99 points followed by Mississippi College with 100 points, Missouri Southern with 133 points and Drury had 150 points to finish fifth. The Ichabods tallied a total of 166 points trailing Illinois-Springfield (154), Tiffin (162) and Missouri Western (165).
WOMEN
JOPLIN, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team had its best finish at the Missouri Southern Stampede since 2019 with a 13th-place finish overall topping a pair of MIAA schools in the process.
Lexie Fontaine led the Ichabods with a 57th-place finish with a time of 19:17.69 over the 5K course.
Jolie Evans finished 64th in a time 19:24.79.
Avery Hoffpauir was 99th overall with a time of 20:12.18 and
Suzanne Farnham was next in line with a time of 20:14.36.
Katy Menke finished 105th in a time of 20:24.78 just ahead of
Stacy Briggs who was next in 106th place overall in a time of 20:24.92.
Leah Spurlock finished 154th in a time of 22:10.83 and
Cheyenne Hittle was 162nd with a time of 22:42.58.
Avery Winter finished in 164th place with a time of 22:47.25.
Pittsburg State won the overall title with 71 points ahead of Tampa who had 73. Missouri Southern was third with 85 points and Mississippi College was fourth with 124 points and Rogers State and Southwest Baptist tied for fifth with 153 points. The Ichabods tallied 369 points overall.
