FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Washburn Ichabod men's cross country team out ran 12 NCAA Division I schools en route to a 13th—place finish at the University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival on Friday in Arkansas. Washburn will be in action next week at the Emporia State Invitational.
David Kibet led the Ichabods with a 13th-place finish in a time of 24:40.0.
Donald Kibet finished 13 seconds behind in a time of 24:53.6 to finish 23rd.
Gabriel Chinya finished in 91st with a time of 26:04.4 and
Leo Cossham finished 121st in a time of 26:35.4.
Daniel Alamilla was 139th in a time of 26:52.2 and
Paul Kamp placed 143rd at 26:55.0 and
Sam Steinlicht was 167th in a time of 27:17.2.
Host-squad Arkansas won its meet placing five of its runners in the top six overall tallying 18 team points. Western Colorado was second with 93 points and Incarnate Word was third with 137 points. Arkansas State with 158 points and Oklahoma was fifth with 235 points. From the MIAA, Nebraska-Kearney was seventh with 293 points and Central Missouri had 294 points to finish eighth. Missouri Southern was 11th with 335 points.
