No. 16 Ichabod soccer travels to Wichita to face Bronchos

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 16 Washburn Ichabod women's soccer team continues its march through the MIAA Tournament with a semifinal showdown with the Central Oklahoma Bronchos at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan. The Ichabods, who won the MIAA regular season championship, are coming off a 2-1 home win over Fort Hays State in the quarterfinal round. Washburn and Central Oklahoma will meet for a rematch of their 0-0 draw on Sep. 27 at Yager Stadium. The semifinal bout will take place on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m.

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Beck is tied for 11th nationally with 10 shutouts posted in goal. Beck places 6th with a goals against average of 0.313, while her 0.879 save percentage is good for a tie for 16th.
  • Senior Khloe Schuckman is 51st nationally in shots per game. Schuckman has taken 62 shots in 19 games, averaging 3.26 shots per contest.
  • Washburn is 14th in Division II in corner kicks taken per game. The Ichabods have taken 134 corner kicks for an average of 7.05 per game.
  • Washburn sits at 35th in shots per game, taking 322 shots with an average of 16.95 shots per game.

--- BLUE REPORT ---

  • Sam Searcey, the lone freshman on the Ichabod roster, scored the opening goal in the 28th minute against Fort Hays State, receiving a cross from Lindsey Maul in the six-yard box. The goal was Searcey's first of her collegiate career.
  • Khloe Schuckman scored her team-high ninth goal of the season in the 69th minute to give Washburn a 2-0 lead. Lakin Rold earned the assist on the play, crossing the ball into the box, where Schuckman scored after the Tiger goalkeeper deflected the cross.
  • Goalkeeper Alli Harrington made an incredible save in the 60th minute, leaping to stop a close-range shot and pushing the ball up against the crossbar. Harrington has compiled a 5-1-0 record since taking over the starting goalkeeper position.
  • Jadyn Allen played in her 75th game as an Ichabod. Allen has played 2,783 minutes over her career, scoring seven goals and recording three assists.
  • Eight Ichabods earned a place on the All-MIAA teams announced last week. Josie Boyle, Belle Kennedy, and Khloe Schuckman earned first team honors, while Hailey Beck, Jordan Tenpas, and Viviana Soto-Herrera made the second team. Lindsey Maul was selected for the third team, while Lakin Rold was named an honorable mention.

--- LOOKING AHEAD ---

  • If the Ichabods defeat the Bronchos, Washburn will advance to the MIAA Championship held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Stryker Sports Complex. Missouri Western and Central Missouri will face off in the other semifinal matchup.
  • The NCAA Tournament begins on Thursday, Nov. 21 and concludes with the National Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Match #20 - Central Oklahoma

  • The Bronchos are coached by Amel Muhamedagic in his first season. Muhamedagic is 0-0-1 against Washburn as the head coach of the Bronchos.
  • Muhamedagic spent 17 seasons as an assistant coach with the Bronchos before being named the head coach in waiting in 2023, officially taking over following the retirement of Mike Cook.
  • UCO went 11-5-3 this season, finishing 7-2-3 in MIAA play and earning the 4-seed in the MIAA Tournament.
  • The Bronchos defeated Northeastern State 1-0 in overtime in the quarterfinals. Rebecca Tweedy scored the game-winner in the 93rd minute to send the Bronchos to Wichita.
  • Rebekah George was named the 2024 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year after scoring seven goals and adding two assists in conference play.
  • Caleah Carter, Harmony Turner, and Emma Nicholas shared the team lead with four assists each. Nicholas was an All-MIAA Third Team selection for the Bronchos.
  • Stormie Ramsey and Madison Linavong earned All-MIAA Second Team honors for UCO.
  • Avery Bass has made 16 starts in goal, making 65 saves with a goals against average of 1.11.
  • UCO has taken 304 shots this season for an average of 16 shots per game.
  • Washburn is 3-12-2 all-time against Central Oklahoma. The teams last met on Sep. 27 at Yager Stadium in the conference opener for both squads, playing to a 0-0 draw.
