CONROE, Texas – The Washburn Ichabods dropped a pair of pair of close games on day two of the Division II Fast Pitch Invitational in Conroe, Texas. The Ichabods will wrap up the five-game event facing Central Washington on Sunday morning.
Game 1 – Wingate 3, Washburn 1
The Ichabods led 1-0 after scoring a solo run in the top of the third on a single by
Jaycee Ginter that scored
Ellington Hogle after starting the inning with a walk and moved to second on a sac bunt by
Marrit Mead.
Washburn held the lead until the bottom of the sixth when Wingate took advantage of an Ichabod error to score three runs, including two unearned leading to the 3-1 win.
The Ichabods had five hits by five different players in the game while stranding nine base runners. Ginter took the loss in the circle striking out four .
Game 2 – No. 8 UT-Tyler 1, Washburn 0
The Ichabods outhit the Patriots 5-3, but a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth by the host team pushed UTT to a 1-0 win over the Ichabods.
Ellington Hogle had two hits to lead the Ichabods (2-2) including a double. Both teams stranded seven base runners in the game.
Sadie Walker scattered three hits in the loss striking out two.
