PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team finished 19
th with 11.75 points and the men's team finished 21
st with nine points as the indoor season wrapped up at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Both finishes were the highest for the Ichabod programs in their seventh NCAA Indoor Championships. Overall, six of the eight Ichabods who qualified return to Topeka as an All-American.
Naiuri Krein earned her first All-America honor by finishing third in the pentathlon with a school-record 3,885 points. After starting the event with the 60m hurdles where she finished eighth in a time of 8.85, she finished 10
th in the high jump before placing fourth in the shot put. After placing eighth in the long jump, Krein wrapped up the event with a 4th place finish in the 800m in a time of 2:21.15 setting a personal best.
In the high jump,
Jordan Dale tied the school record after clearing 2.13m (6-11.75) earning All-American honors and one team point. Dale cleared both 2.03m and 2.08m as well as the 2.13m height.
Matthew Heckman finished 11
th to earn second-team All-American honors after clearing 2.03 (6-08.00) on his first attempt and then clearing 2.08m (6-09.75) before going out at 2.13m (6-11.75).
In the shot put,
Shanice Hutson placed fourth after recording a throw of 14.88m (48-10.00) on her sixth and final throw of the day moving from ninth into fourth earning five team points. By finishing fourth, she earned first-team All-American honors – to go with her two second team All-American honors earned during the outdoor season.
On Friday,
Braden Rose finished second in the weight throw and
Alex Hart finished in a tie for seventh in the high jump earning All-America honors.
