EMPORIA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's and women's track and field squads added two more All-Americans on the second day of the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships while sending another into the finals on Saturday. So far, the Ichabods have recorded four All-Americans with the potential for more with three finals participants and the No. 1 qualifier in the long jump on tap for tomorrow.
Washburn's
Naiuri Krein cemented her status as one of the all-time greats at Washburn with her sixth-place finish in the heptathlon recording her sixth All-American title, setting a program record for the most awards as an individual. Krien tallied 5,275 points, placing 12 in the long jump, seventh in the javelin, and fifth in the 800m on the final day of competition, scoring three team points.
Slade Smith, seeing his first action at an NCAA Championship, finished 12
th with a mark of 2.05m (6-08.75) to earn his first All-American award as an Ichabod.
Lexie Fontaine qualified for her second final on Saturday in the 800m running just off her school record pace finishing fourth in qualifying in a time of 2:06.89. Saturday will be busy for Fontaine as she will run the 1500m at 4:05 p.m. followed by the 800m final at 5:25 p.m. less than 90 minutes in between events. Fontaine is looking to claim her second and third All-American awards to go along with her previous one from the indoor season.
