TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 23-ranked Washburn Ichabods had their 11-game winning streak snapped on Friday at Gahnstrom Field falling 3-0 and 6-2 to the No. 9-ranked Pittsburg State Gorillas. Washburn wraps up the home slate on Saturday hosting Missouri Southern beginning at noon. Between games, the five Ichabod seniors,

Autymn Schreiner,
Hailey Neira,
Sheyenne Cheek and
Jaycee Ginter will be honored with their families between games.
Game 1 – PSU 3, WU 0
The game was deadlocked until the fourth inning when a walk and a sac bunt led to an RBI single by Maddie Fernandez scoring Heather Arnett putting the Gorillas (40-4, 14-2 MIAA) up 1-0.
Pitt State would add two more runs in the top of the seventh pushing the lead to 3-0 on a pinch hit single by Sydney Sneed.
The Ichabods could not get anything going in the sixth or seventh innings as the Gorillas took the opener.
Sadie Walker dropped to 19-6 in the circle striking out seven walking one in the game. Each team had five hits with two of Washburn's coming
Erin Boles.
Game 2 – PSU 6, WU 2
The Gorillas took a 1-0 lead in the second and added two more in the fourth before the Ichabods got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when
Alexis Tanguma reached on a throwing error by the Gorillas and then came around from first to score on an RBI double by
Kaylee Wagner cutting the Pitt State lead to 3-1.
Washburn pulled within one at 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth after
Marrit Mead reached on a fielder's choice and after swiping second, she scored on a single by Tanguma, however the Gorillas scored three times in the seventh pushing the final score to 6-2.
Ginter took the loss in the circle falling to 15-6 on the season.
Washburn was limited to four hits in the nightcap with Tanguma picking up two of those in the loss.
