EMPORIA, Kan. – Washburn's
Braden Rose earned his fifth All-American Award and his fourth overall outdoors after he finished second in the hammer throw with a school record of 66.55m (218-04) on Thursday in Emporia. Rose returns to action on Friday in the discus at 1:30 p.m.
Rose's best throw came on his third attempt of the afternoon after opening with throws of 62.73m (205-09) improving to 63.03m (206-09) in his second throw. After his record-breaking mark on his third throw, he wrapped up with a fourth throw of 62.48m (205-00). He fouled on his fifth and sixth throws of the afternoon.
He scored eight team points for the Ichabod men's team giving him 11 for his career point total at the outdoor championships which is the most in program history.
