COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team finished in seventh at the Gans Creek Classic host by the University of Missouri on Friday morning in the 6K open division. Washburn returns to action on Oct. 5 at the Griffon Invite.
 
Lexie Fontaine led the Ichabods with a 43rd-place finish in a time of 22:41.8 closing the race with her fastest 1000m split of the morning in a time of 3:40.8. Her overall time. Her time was also five seconds off her time from the MIAA Championships in 2023.
 
Eve Weber finished one spot behind in 44th in a time of 22:44.5. Weber's fastest split came in the final 1000m of the race in a time of 3:43.1. Weber shaved nearly 30 seconds off her time from the MIAA Championships in 2023 when she finished the 6K race in a time of 23:12.6.
 
Jolie Evans finished 79th overall with a time of 23:24.0 climbing 22 spots in the final 1000m running a time of 3:42.8 down the closing stretch. Evans reduced her time by 16 seconds from the MIAA Championships last season.
 
Sofia Wendell placed 93rd overall with a time of 23:33.5. Her final 1000m split time of 3:47.4 for her fastest split of the day moving 17 spots up the leaderboard.
 
Misti Schlabach placed 85th with a time of 23:57.9. Riley Ammons was 168th overall in a time of 24:37.4 and Katy Menke was 180th in a time of 24:49.7 rounding out the Ichabod top seven runners.

Fort Hays State won the women's 6K open event with 40 teams points followed by Taylor (42), Cumberlands (86), Grace (153), Indiana Wesleyan (170), Cornerstone (222) and Washburn (246).
