Washburn softball inks four in 2026 class

TOPEKA, Kan. – Washburn Ichabod softball head coach Brenda Holaday has announced the signing of four future student-athletes who will join the Ichabods for the 2026-27 season. The Ichabods are coming off a 31-21 season in 2025 and will open the 2026 campaign Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at the Lone Star Classic in Mansfield, Texas.
 
"While this signing class is smaller in number, every one of these young ladies has the ability to be difference makers in our program," Holaday said. "I expect all of them to make an immediate impact. Jayda will have the opportunity to pitch and hit, Cameran gives us a strong athlete who can swing it, Reagan is a corner infielder who will give us experience and energy and Katie will be a big bat in the middle of our lineup. They add a great combination of athleticism and talent to our roster."
 
Jayda Juarez – P/IF – 5-5 – R/R – Omaha, Neb./Millard North HS
As a senior, she batted .496 while recording a 2.3 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched helping team to a state runner-up finish … her junior season she was a second-team all-state selection also earning all-metro and all-Coaches team honors and Lincoln Journal Start all-state honors after hitting .358 with 60 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched with a 2.7 ERA … as a sophomore she was anall-state selection earning all-metro and all-coaches team honors as well as Omaha World Herald first-team all-state honors and Lincoln Journal State super state honors and the Nebraska all-state honors hitting .352 with 150 strikeouts in 130 innings pitched with a 3.00 ERA … as a freshman she was an honorable mention all-state selection and all-metro after batting .354 with 90 strikeouts in 90 innings pitched … daughter of Kylee Wassenberg and Jason Juarez … a brother, Joaquin … plans to major in nursing.
 
Jayda on Washburn: I chose Washburn because the coaches and players immediately made me feel like part of something special. I can't wait to compete at the next level and represent Washburn.
 
Holaday on Jayda: Jayda is a talented athlete who will be a two-way player for us, both as a pitcher and hitter. She comes from a very successful high school and club program and has played with and against so many great players. We are proud of our Nebraska girls and Jayda, no doubt will make her mark here as well.
 
 
Reagan Neitzel – 3B/C – 5-4 – R/R – Manhattan, Kan./Manhattan HS/Johnson County CC
As a freshman at Johnson County, she Named All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and All-Region 6  Division II honorable mention … played in and started 53 games … batted .391 (63-for-161) with 17 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 26 walks, 53 runs scored and 44 RBI … produced 15 multiple-hit and 11 multiple-RBI games  … led the team in runs scored and ranked third in home runs and hits, and  fourth in doubles … at Manhattan High School, she was named all-state by the Kansas Softball Coaches Association first-team her senior year … was a four-time all- league selection … as a senior she  earned first-team all-state and all Flint Hills honors and was named the Centennial League Player of the Year … batted .417 with 30 hits, eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, with 28 runs scored and a team-high 30 RBI, 13 walks with just seven strikeouts … selected All-Centennial League first-team a sophomore and junior and earned second-team as a freshman …  helped the Indians reach the regional championship game … Selected KSCA All-State honorable mention as a sophomore and junior … hit .372 her junior year while helping the Indians to their first Class 6A state tournament appearance in 20 years … also drove in 27 runs, tying for the most on the team, along with six doubles, a triple and 27 runs scored … as a sophomore she batted .300 with 20 hits, three doubles, a triple, 19 runs and 17 RBI … hit .421 with 27 hits, five doubles, a triple, two home runs, 12 runs scored and 14 RBI … finished her career with 104 hits, 22 doubles, five triples, six homers, 86 runs and 88 driven in … also competed in basketball and volleyball … an honor roll student all four years … daughter of Kevin and Beth Neitzel … two sisters, Logan and Gracyn … plans to major in business.
 
Reagan on Washburn: I chose Washburn because I feel like it was a great fit with the competitive environment and the culture of the girls is great. It is close to home and family and the facilities are the best! This will be a place I can continue to grow.
 
Holaday on Reagan: Reagan was an impactful player in the middle of Johnson County's lineup as they excelled to the National tournament last year. She plays with great passion and energy and can help us both at the hot corner and behind the plate. She is a young lady who will continue to get better and will be a great asset to our program.
 
 
Cameran Clutchey – OF – 5-5 – R/R – Olathe, Kan./Olathe South HS
As a junior, she was a second-team all-league selection after batting .345 with a home run, 13 RBI and seven stolen bases … a second-team all-league pick as a sophomore earning all-state honorable mention all-state honors after batting .327 with three home runs and four stolen bases … as a freshman she started on varsity hitting a home run … daughter of Chad and Lesley Clutchey … a brother, Carson … will major in business or criminal justice.
 
Cameran on Washburn: I chose Washburn because it felt like family. Every single player and coached made me feel welcome. I was so sure that I committed the day after my visit. Not only is the culture amazing, the facilities and campus are incredible.
 
Holaday on Cameran: Cameran is an exciting young lady who can make a difference in our outfield with her athletic ability. She is strong, has good speed and hits with some pop. She works hard at her game and we expect her to continue to improve and grow in our program.
 
 
Katie Kolarik – OF – 5-6 – R/R – Overland Park, Kan./Bishop Miege HS/Johnson County CC
As a freshman at JCCC, she was named all-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and All-Region 6 Division II first-team and was named MVP of the regional tournament after starting all 53 games … batted .430 (61-for-142) with 19 doubles, 11 home runs, 31 walks, 41 runs scored and 51 driven in … recorded 15 multiple-hit games and led the team with 16 multiple-RBI games , which ties for the third-most in a season in JCCC history … at Bishop Miege, she was a four-time All-Eastern Kansas League performer as an infielder … earned second-team as a freshman and sophomore and first-team her junior and senior seasons … batted .460 with 34 hits, eight doubles, two triples, three home runs, 22 runs scored and 29 RBI as a freshman, helping the Stags to a runner-up finish in the EKL and a fourth-place finish at the 4A State Tournament … followed with 36 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 25 runs and 35 RBI with a .490 average as a sophomore while helping the team to runner-up finishes in the EKL and 4A State Tournament … hit at a .530 clip as a junior with 34 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, six homers, 24 runs and 34 RBI and finished her capped her career with .535 average with 34 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, six home runs. 35 runs and 29 RBI … tallied 138 hits, 38 doubles, six triples, 20 home runs, 96 runs and RBI in her prep career … daughter of James and Michelle Kolarik … a brother Nicholas, who played two years of baseball at JCCC and two years at Indiana State … a sister, Jennifer (Yoder) who played volleyball at Washburn … plans to major in radiology tech.
 
Katie on Washburn: I chose Washburn because I feel like I will fit in here. I want to play somewhere where I will be with people I enjoy and I believe Washburn is that place. My sister played volleyball here and spoke highly of it and said I will fit right in.
 
Holaday on Katie: Katie had a monster season at Johnson County last year, helping her team to reach the National tournament. She is a strong bat who can hit for power and she has the athleticism to play multiple positions on defense. She is a young lady who should be a difference maker from day one.
