Ichabods Claim Defensive, Freshman Player of the Year Honors Alongside 10 All-MIAA Nods

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The No. 16 Washburn Ichabod Soccer earned two major awards & had 10 members on the All-MIAA teams announced today by the league office.

Senior Belle Kennedy was named the MIAA's Defensive Player of the Year and was selected All-MIAA First Team. Kennedy has played 926 minutes while contributing to 11 clean sheets. 

Leah Henke was named the MIAA's Freshman of the Year and was also an All-MIAA First Team selection. Henke found the back of the net 9 times this season while adding an assist. She had a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Missouri Southern earlier this year. She ranks second in the conference in goals(9) and 3rd in the conference in points(19). 

Junior Lindsey Maul was also an All-MIAA First Team selection. She has played 1240 minutes & started every game she has played in this season, and has helped contribute to 10 clean sheets.

Junior Rilyn Snyder was selected to the All-MIAA Second Team. She leads the team in minutes played with 1518 and has started every game this season, while scoring her first career goal against Northeastern State. 

Sophomore Forward Sam Searcey was named to the All-MIAA Third Team after scoring 5 goals in the regular season, 2nd most on the team, and added 3 assists.

Junior Midfielder Grace Peterson was voted All-MIAA Third Team by the league's coaches. She has started 16 games this season while playing 896 minutes, and she also has an assist this year.

 Junior Mackinly Rohn was also selected to the Third Team after she scored two goals and an assist this year, with one of her goals being the game-winner in the 85th minute against Central Missouri.

Senior Shaye Taylor was the final Ichabod named to the Third Team. She has played the second-most minutes on the team this year with 1509, and scored her first three goals of her career, while playing a major part in keeping 11 clean sheets on the year.

Freshman Goalkeeper Lili Everley was Honorable Mention All-MIAA after she had 9 shutouts on the year, while making 36 saves, and only allowed 3 goals in the conference season.

Freshman Kate Hinck was also named to the All-MIAA Honorable Mention Team with scoring 4 goals and starting in every match in her Freshman campaign.
