Box Score 2 SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team fell in a pair of non-conference games at the Midwest Classic falling by matching identical scores of 8-3 in a loss to No. 5 Augustana and to Maryville. The Ichabods will be back in action on Sunday in the same event facing Minnesota State at 10 a.m. and Rockhurst at 12:30 p.m.
Game 1 – No. 5 Augustana 8, Washburn 3
The Ichabods opened the event with an 8-3 loss to the No. 5 Vikings. Augustana jumped out to a 6-1 lead before adding two more runs cutting the margin to 8-3. Full stats will be updated as soon.
Game 2 – Maryville 8, Washburn 3
The Saints jumped on the board first with a homer in the bottom of the first, but
Mariah Wheeler connected on her first of two home runs of the game in the top of the second tying the score at 1-1.
The Saints then scored the next six runs in the second and third innings taking a 7-1 lead. In the fourth, Wheeler homered again with another solo shot and then
Erin Boles singled to left scoring
Dalaney Anderson trimming the Saint lead to four at 7-3. The Saints added a solo run in the fourth wrapping up the scoring.
Wheeler had two of the Ichabods' five hits in the game.
