MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. -- The Washburn Ichabod women's golf team sits in a tie for 11th place with a team score of 310 on the first day of the Spring Regional Preview. With a frost delay on Monday pushing the start of the first round back to the afternoon, the tournament will conclude with the second and final round on Tuesday at Shangri-La Country Club.
Angelina Borg-Malec continued a recent strong run of play, firing a 2-over 74 to lead the Ichabods on the day and sit in a tie for 18th place. Borg-Malec made birdie on her first hole, the par-5, 476-yard 9th hole, on her way to four birdies in the round.
Susana Granados Carrion opened the tournament with a 6-over 78, good for a tie for 43rd place. Granados Carrion played the par-5s at even par, tied for 17th in the field.
Aliyah North sits in a tie for 51st place after posting a 7-over 79. North closed her round with a birdie at the par-5 9th hole.
Keira Ronsick joined North in a tie for 51st, also posting a score of 79. Ronsick found birdies at the 9th and 14th holes in the round.
Lois Deeter finished the day in a tie for 94th place after a round of 86. Deeter made back-to-back birdies at the 2nd and 3rd holes, both par-4s.
Washburn is joined by Central Oklahoma in a tie for 11th place in the team standings. Seven squads are separated by only nine strokes between 6th and 11th place.
Central Missouri leads the team standings with a 2-under 286, with the Jennies' Mia Rallo topping the individual leaderboard after a 6-under 66.
