TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's Shaye Taylor from Ichabod soccer and Renske Ubachs from Ichabod tennis have been named the Hy-Vee Student-Athletes of the Week for action ending Sept. 22.

Renske Ubachs became the third Ichabod women's tennis player to win the ITA Central Region Singles Championship over the weekend, winning six matches to claim the title. Ubachs won two matches on each day of the tournament, winning the title with a two-set win over Central Oklahoma's Pete Komada by 6-1 scores in both sets. She will head to the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga. beginning Oct. 16. 

Shaye Taylor helped the Ichabods to a pair of shutout victories on the week with wins over Harding and Ouachita Baptist. Taylor played all 90 minutes of both contests on defense and on Sunday scored the only goal of the match in the first half off of a free kick. It was her first collegiate goal and the eventual game-winner.
