TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's Makenzie Sais from Ichabod softball and Bryson Smith from Ichabod basketball have been named the Hy-Vee Student Athletes of the Week for their performances last week ending on Feb. 15.

Makenzie Sais hit .533 with a .650 on base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage while swiping 12 bases in five games as the Ichabods were 5-0 last week at the Cherokee Classic. She recorded hits in four of five games going 8 of 15 overall with four walks and scored six runs overall. She tied a season-high with four stolen bases in the weekend finale against Southwestern Oklahoma. She had two games in which she stole three bases - against East Central and against Harding finishing with 12 stolen bases without getting caught.

Bryson Smith averaged 12 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game as the No. 3 Ichabods were 2-0 with wins over No. 25 Arkansas-Fort Smith and Northeastern State last week. He was 11 of 23 from the field overall. He scored 15 points against UAFS going 6 of 12 from the field hitting 3 of 6 shots from deep adding four assists. Against Northeastern State, Smith finished with 11 points adding five assists and four steals.
