ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Five Ichabods scored in double figures to lead Washburn to a 102-70 win over Lincoln Friday in the first night of the Missouri Western Hillyard Classic. The Ichabods, now 1-1, will play Upper Iowa Saturday at 5:30 p.m. to finish action in the classic and wrap up three games in three days.
The Ichabods shot 54 percent in the well-ballanced team effort. They won the rebound battle 46-35.
Mario Scott was 7 of 10 to lead the 'Bods with 18 points while
Darnell Kimble followed with 14 off 6-of-9 shooting.
Grant Hargett and
Paul Byers also cracked double digits with 12 points each and
Brady Sisk added 11.
Byers, Kimble and Dei Dei each pulled in six rebounds to lead the team. Angel Santiago led Washburn with five assists and joined three other Ichabods with two steals.
A pair of free throws from Sisk gave Washburn its first double-digit lead, 25-15 at 10:20. The Ichabods continued to build the lead, using an 18-0 run to go up 37-15. Washburn went up by 30, 56-26 at halftime.
Washburn led by at least 25 throughout the second half and had its largest lead, 39 points at 90-51 at the 5:45 mark.
