Washburn improved to 4-1 as six Ichabods scored in double figures in a 102-60 win over Kansas Wesleyan Saturday in the final game of the Capitol Plaza/AM 580 WIBW Holiday Classic.
The Ichabods will return to action December 4 when they host Central Oklahoma, ranked 19th in the preseason poll.
The Ichabods shot 53 percent for their second game shooting 50 percent or better this year and second game reaching 100 points. Washburn shot 58 percent in the first half.
Brady Sisk led the Ichabods with 17 points while
James Williams was 6 of 9 from the field for 14 points.
Darnell Kimble was 5 of 7 for 12 points while
Paul Byers was 5 of 6 with 11 points. Angel Santiago and
Grant Hargett also cracked double figures with 10 points each.
Andrew Meile had seven assists, one night after setting a career high with seven. Hargett, Santiago and
Mario Scott each had four assists. Hargett and Scott led with three steals each and Kimble blocked a pair of shots.
Hargett and
Kyle Snyder led Washburn with six rebounds each while Sisk pulled in five.
Washburn had just one turnover in the first half and led 52-30 at the break.
Notes
-The Ichabods scored 100 points for the second time this season. The last time they reached the century mark at least twice in a year was in 2004-05 when they did it thrice. Washburn is now 59-4 when scoring at least 100 points in a game.
- The Ichabods improved to 12-9-1 against KWU and has won three straight in the series.
- Scott, Meile and Williams started at guard while Byers and Kimble started at forward. All five have started all five games this year.
- The Ichabods won four straight games for the first time since late in the 2004-05 season.
