BOLIVAR, Mo. –
Kyle Snyder drained his 11th career 3-pointer to pull Washburn within a point but the Ichabods failed to score on their final possession as they fell 82-81 at 21st-ranked Southwest Baptist Tuesday night. Washburn fell to 11-5 overall and 3-4 in the MIAA while the Bearcats improved to 13-3 and 6-1 in the league. The Ichabods will play on the road again Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Pittsburg State.
The Ichabods have now played eight straight games that were decided by nine points or less and they have lost three of those games by a point.
Angel Santiago led the Ichabods with 18 points and
James Williams had 14, both off the bench.
Brady Sisk started his second straight game and scored 13 off 5-of-7 shooting.
The Ichabods held the lead briefly at the start of the second half but trailed from the 16:05 mark. SBU built the lead up to 11, 63-52 at the 12:17 mark and then again, 76-65 with 4:13 left.
With one minute remaining Santiago hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to three and then with 33 seconds left

The Ichabods fouled Brandon Burgette right away and he missed both free throws, giving Washburn a chance to win. Santiago fired up a 3 with 12 seconds left and the rebound went out of bounds off the Ichabods.
Before Washburn could foul the Bearcats turned the ball over and Santiago drove the lane but Matthew Rogers blocked his shot in the final seconds.
Rogers finished the game with seven blocks and the Bearcats shot 53 percent from the field. Rogers also led four Bearcats in double figures with 19 points. SBU, the MIAA's leading 3-point shooting team, shot 53 percent from behind the line.
Washburn led numerous times throughout the game, but never by more than four points.
Snyder led the Ichabods with 11 rebounds as he reached double figures for the second straight time and sixth time this year.
Notes:
• In the 28th meeting between the two schools Washburn still leads the all-time series 25-13 but the Bearcats have won five straight.

Paul Byers blocked one shot to move all alone into sixth at Washburn, now with 63 career blocks. He needs three more to move into a tie for fifth.
• Angel Santiago shot the ball a team season-high 19 times.
