Ichabods fall to Wildcats in second DI exhibition

MANHATTAN - DeAndre Eggins led the Ichabods with 13 points as the Ichabods fell, 81-57 in an exhibition at Kansas State Sunday afternoon. Washburn will continue exhibition play Tuesday at UNLV at 9:30 p.m. Central Time.

Washburn shot just 19 percent in the first half but shot 41 percent in the second half. The Wildcats shot 30 percent and also improved by shooting 60 percent in the second half. WU shot 30 percent in the game while KSU shot 58 percent.

Nate Daniels hit a pair of 3-pointers for WU to finish with eight points and he joined four other players with a team-high three rebounds.

Jacob Pullen led Kansas State with 21 points.

Byers stole the ball after KSU won the opening tip and he took it in for a fast break lay-up to give WU a 2-0 lead, its only advantage of the half.

The Ichabods then made just one of their next 12 shots after that and finished the half 5-of-27. They kept pace with the Wildcats by making 14 free throws and getting eight steals against K-State in the opening half.

A lay-up by Eggins with 1:36 left in the first half cut Kansas State's lead to eight points at 31-23. The Ichabods then got within seven in the final minute but KSU scored the final five points, including a 3-pointer from Denis Clemente at the buzzer to go into the locker room up 36-24.

McNeill led WU with four steals and Moriba DeCoteau blocked two shots.
