TOPEKA, Kan. -- The eighth-ranked Washburn Lady Blues volleyball team swept No. 20-ranked Nebraska-Omaha 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23) on Wednesday night at Lee Arena. The Lady Blues exacted some revenge against the Mavericks, who gave Washburn its first loss of the season back in September.

The Lady Blues (27-3, 11-3 MIAA) trailed by as many as five points in the first set and trailed 20-17, but rallied to score eight of the final 11 points to earn the set one win. Washburn jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in set one, forcing UNO to use a timeout. WU led by as many as nine points in the frame and cruised to the early two set lead.

In the third and final set the Mavericks (18-9, 8-6 MIAA) jumped out to an early lead and led by five early on. Washburn rallied to tie the score at 15 all and again at 21-21 before scoring four of the final six points to get the sweep.

Freshman Jessica Kopp led Washburn with a career-high 13 kills and a .522 attack percentage. Classmate Jessica Fey was the only other Lady Blue in double-digit kills with 10. Senior Kate Hampson recorded her 49th career double-double and 11th of the season with 31 assists and 18 digs. Junior Molly Smith added a game-high 21 digs.

Sara Kampschnieder led Nebraska-Omaha with 11 kills and Emily Myers had 28 assists.
