EDMOND, Okla. -- The Washburn Lady Blues softball team was swept in a doubleheader by East Central Oklahoma in the first day of the Central Oklahoma Invitational in Edmond, Okla. The Lady Blues fell in the first game 9-5 and lost the nightcap 6-3. The Lady Blues (0-7) will take on the host Bronchos tomorrow at noon.
In the opener, the Lady Blues scored a run in the top of the first only to see the Tigers score two in the bottom of the frame. Washburn's run came on an

Dani White who doubled with two outs. The Lady Blues took the lead with two more runs in the bottom of the second on a
Tish Williams home run to left scoring
Katie Duncan who doubled to lead off the inning.
The Lady Blues took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning and the Tigers scored single runs in the fourth and fifth inning before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Lady Blues added two runs in the top of the seventh cutting the lead to 9-5 on Williams' second home run of the game scoring
Lindsey Himpel who led off the inning with a bunt single.
Samantha Farris took the loss in the circle for the Lady Blues.
In the nightcap, the Tigers scored three in the first inning jumping out to a 3-0 lead and added solo runs in the top of the third, fifth and seventh innings leading to a 6-3 win. Washburn scored a run in the bottom of the third inning when White was sent home by a Podschun double down the left field line cutting the deficit to 4-1. Washburn scored two in the bottom of the seventh cutting the final margin to 6-3. Himpel led off the inning with her first collegiate home run and Podschun recorded her second RBI of the game when she grounded out to short stop scoring

Kayla Long dropped to 0-3 on the season after allowing six earned runs.
