DURANT, Okla. -- The Washburn went 1-1 in the first day of the Southeastern Oklahoma Invitational after picking up a 6-1 win over No. 3 ranked St. Edward's then dropping the second game 4-2 with Abilene Christian. Washburn (2-11) will play three more games at the event beginning with St. Mary's (Texas) at 10 a.m. and Southwestern Oklahoma at 4 p.m. on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend with Angelo State on Sunday at noon.

Washburn broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by
Maggie West which scored
Dani White who led the inning off with a walk. SEU score one in the bottom of the fourth, but Washburn stretched the lead with a solo home run by White and three more in the sixth with a three-run blast by
Katie Duncan. Sam Farris picked up the win scattering three hits allowing the one run with three strike outs.

Washburn scored in the first inning on a single by White scoring
Tish Williams and was held scoreless until the seventh when the Lady Blues scored on an unearned run. Washburn outhit the Wildcats eight to seven, but stranded six base runners.
