TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods used a 12-hit attack scoring a season-high nine runs in a 9-3 win over Bemidji State Saturday afternoon at Falley Field. The Ichabods and the Beavers will wrap the four-game series with the finale on Sunday at noon.
The Ichabods (2-3) scored two runs in the second jumping to the early lead when
Brian Gorges tripled to right center scoring
Brett Sorensen who doubled to lead off the inning. Gorges scored on a sac fly by
Cameron Kasel.
Washburn added a solo run in the fourth on back to back doubles, the first by
Thomas Holiday to lead off the inning and Sorensen's doubled scored Holiday. The Ichabods added two runs in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings leading to the 9-3 win.
In the seventh inning,
Dane Simoneau hit his first home run of the season scoring Gorges who doubled earlier in the inning.
Danny Cook pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out eight with two walks.
Dustin Holthaus came in and pitched the final 3 2/3 innings with three strkeouts.
Sorensen, Gorges, Simoneau,

Calvin Iversen each had two hits for the Ichabods.
