TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Ichabods rallied from four runs down and held on for a 7-6 win in game two of their doubleheader with Missouri Western on Sunday at Falley Field. The win salvaged a series split after the Griffons had taken game one 7-2.

Trailing 4-0 after two innings, Washburn (8-8, 2-4 MIAA) tallied three runs in the third to close within one. Travis Ice and Wes Joy had back-to-back walks to start the inning. Ice scored on an RBI double by Dane Simoneau and Joy trotted home when the relay throw from right field soared towards the Ichabods' dugout allowing Simoneau to end up at third. Brian Gorges followed that up with an RBI single to make it 4-3.

Washburn took its first lead of the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Brett Sorensen knocked in one run with a bases-loaded single and Ice scored when Simoneau reached on an error to give the Ichabods a 5-4 lead.

Missouri Western (10-12, 3-7 MIAA) tied the game in the top of the fifth, but Washburn took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom half. Thomas Holiday knocked in both runs with a bases-loaded single to put the 'Bods up 7-5.

Joel Ricketts (3-1) allowed five runs on five hits in five innings of work to earn his third win of the season. He walked five and struck out four. Dustin Holthaus pitched three scoreless innings in relief and Eldon Little allowed one run on two hits in the ninth to record his first save of the season.

Andy Hebrard (2-5) allowed two runs on three hits in relief and was tagged with the loss for the Griffons. Starter Ryan Carbah lasted just three innings allowing three runs on three hits. He walked four and struck out five while throwing 73 pitches.

In game one, Missouri Western scored a single run in the second, two in the fifth and four in the sixth en route to a 7-2 win. Washburn was able to muster two unearned runs in the seventh to avoid the shutout. Holiday had a run-scoring single as did Sorensen.

Andrew Miller (1-2) allowed three runs on six hits in 4.1 innings and suffered the loss. Blake Thomas (2-2)  gave up just the two unearned runs in a seven-inning complete game win. He allowed six hits and struck out six.
