TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues split a doubleheader with Benedictine dropping the first game 1-0 before taking the second game 7-0. Washburn will open MIAA play this Friday when they play host to Truman at the Washburn Softball Complex.
In the opener, the Lady Blues outhit the Ravens six to four, but stranded seven runs in the shutout loss.
Katie Duncan had two hits to lead the Lady Blues.
Samantha Farris allowed one earned run, the only of the game in the top of the seventh.
In the second game, Washburn (13-18) scored a solo sun in the fourth followed by three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
Dani White paced the Washburn attack going 4 for 4 with 2 RBI. Washburn recorded 11 hits.
Kayla Long (6-9) picked up the win striking out two scattering eight hits.
