BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods fell 1-0 in game one of an MIAA doubleheader with Southwest Baptist, but rallied to win game two 15-5 en route to a split on Saturday afternoon at Dodson Field. Washburn is scheduled to take on Wayne State on Tuesday.
Freshman 
Brett Ash (0-1) allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work, but suffered the loss in game one. The Ichabods (3-1, 3-1 MIAA) mustered just two hits in the contest. Jared Berman (1-0) earned the win for SBU allowing one hits in 4.1 innings of work.
Washburn trailed 3-0 early in game two, but a five-run fourth inning gave the Ichabods a lead they would never relinquish. 
Dane Simoneau had an RBI triple to start things off and 
Blake Boling added a two-run triple for Washburn.
The Ichabods tacked on to their lead with two runs in the seventh and four runs each in the eighth and ninth innings. 
David Wade smacked the first home run of the season for WU in the eight and 
Andy Petz added a two-run double in the ninth.
Daren Parker allowed three runs on six hits in five innings to earn his first win of the season. 
Raul Guevara allowed two runs on four hits in three innings of relief and 
Alex Coons tossed a scoreless ninth for Washburn. Mike Nicks (1-1) allowed seven runs on 10 hits for the Bearcats (1-9, 1-3 MIAA).
