* Washburn will return home for four straight MIAA doubleheaders beginning with Northwest Missouri on April 2 then facing Nebraska-Omaha the following day at the WU softball complex.

March 19 -- EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues split their only two games of the March MIAA Crossover falling to Nebraska-Omaha 5-2 before rebounding to top Missouri Western 12-7.
Nebraska-Omaha 5, Washburn 2
Tish Williams put Washburn up early with her sixth home run of the season putting Washburn up 1-0 in the first inning, but the Mavericks scored two in the top of the second and added three more in the top of the fifth leading them to the 5-2 win. Washburn added its other run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by
Lindsey Moore.
Kayla Long (5-6) took the loss with four strike outs. The Lady Blues stranded 11 base runners in the game.
Washburn 12, Missouri Western 7
Tish Williams hit her seventh home run of the season and her MIAA-leading 56th of her career while going 3 for 3 to lead Washburn to the 12-7 win over Missouri Western snapping a three-game losing streak to the Griffons.
Ashley Podschun drove in five in the game going 2 for 4 recording a bases loaded double in the third inning. Washburn scored five in the second inning after the Griffons took an early 2-0 lead after their first at bat in the game. Washburn recorded a season-high 16 hits in the game. For the second straight day,
Kelsie Novotny came in the game in relief picking up the win improving to 3-1 on the season.
Facts and Figures for the week that was
The Lady Blues were 4-1 from March 17 to March 19 sweeping a doubleheader from Ottawa and splitting action at the MIAA March Crossover falling 5-2 to Nebraska-Omaha while topping Missouri Western 12-7.
Tish Williams became the MIAA's all-time leading home run hitter collecting her 54th against Ottawa and she added two more at the Crossover event giving her 56 for her career. Williams also raised her batting average 94 points during the week after going 7 for 11 for the week for a .636 batting average with a 2.000 slugging percentage with eight runs scored, nine RBI in 11 at bats. Kelsie Novotny picked up two wins in relief collecting a 1.97 ERA in 10 and 2/3 innings pitched allowing three earned runs collecting wins against Ottawa and Missouri Western.
