Washburn 11, Central Missouri 7 | Southwest Baptist 1, Washburn 0 | Season Stats

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Washburn split its day two action at the MIAA April Crossover topping Central Missouri 11-7 before falling to Southwest Baptist 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Blues (22-16) will take on No. 4 Emporia State on Sunday wrapping up the three-day event.

In the 11-7 win over Central Missouri, the Lady Blues allowed an unearned run in the top of the second, but took the lead for good scoring two more in the bottom of the inning on back-to-back two out home runs by Alex Zordel and Lindsey Moore. The Lady Blues added three more in the bottom of the third with two runs coming on a 2 RBI triple by Ashley Podschun scoring Tish Wililams, who led off the inning with a walk and a single by Lindsey Himpel. The walk was the second of four in the game for Williams who broke the Washburn record for most walks in a game topping the previous high of three which had happened 12 previous times. The four walks also tied an MIAA record for the sixth time and was the first time an MIAA player had walked four times in a game since Gregan Ketcham of Pitt State did it against Missouri Western on May 5, 2006. Washburn sent 10 batters to the plate in a six-run fourth inning as Moore singled to lead off the inning and moved to second after Williams' third base on balls on the day. They both moved up a base on an error by the centerfielder and later scored on a 2-RBI single by Podschun. Jacque Horejsi followed with a 2-RBI single of her own pushing Washburn out to a 11-1 lead. The Jennies would rally to score five in the top of the fifth inning and add one more in the sixth inning. Samantha Farris (4-3) picked up the win going five innings allowing five earned runs. Kelsie Novotny pitched the final two innings to wrap up the game. Podschun finished with 4 RBI and Moore had three of her own. With her walk in the fifth inning, Williams recorded her 32 free pass of the season tying the Washburn single-season record set by Kristen Cheney in 2002.

In the second game against Southwest Baptist, Washburn was limited to three hits as SBU scored its only run on a home run by Krysta Baderdeen in the bottom of the sixth snapping a scoreless tie in the game. Ashley Podschun, Lindsey Moore and Katie Duncan each had hits for Washburn with Podschun collecting a double. Washburn stranded seven base runners in the loss. Kortnea Morgan took the loss allowing the lone run dropping to 2-1 on the season.
