Ichabod golfers climb to 8th in final round of Brickyard Invite

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Washburn Ichabod golf team climbed from 14th to eighth place in the final round of the Brickyard Crossing Intercollegiate Championships held at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. Washburn shot the third-lowest team score of the day to move up the charts.

Washburn finished with a third round team score of 299 only topped by Barry University who won the tournament with a third round score of 290. Western Washington sho a team score of 297 to finish in third. The clubhouse leader after the first two rounds, Nova Southeastern, finished second, five shots behind Barry.

The Ichabods were led by Trey Siegel who finished in a tie for ninth with a 54-hole total of 217 after rounds of 73, 69 and 75 for a 1-over finish. Siegel finished in a tie for first on the par three scoring going 1-under for the week as he was one of two golfers to play the par three holes in under par.

Ronnie McHenry finished in a tie for 21st with a 7-over 223 with a 71 followed by a pair of 76's.

Nathan Hoefflin had his best round of the tournament following back-to-back 80's with a 1-under 71 for a 15-over 231 tying for 51st place.

Tyler Wright finished in a tie for 55th with a three-round total of 232 with a scorecard of 76, 79 and 77.

Sam Schulte placed in a tie for 72nd with a 21-over 237 after rounds of 81, 77 and 79.

Washburn will be back in action next week at the NSU Men's Golf Classic at Emerald Falls Golf Club in Tallequah, Okla.
