Ichabods Tied for First After Day One of MIAA Championships

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Washburn Men's Golf Team ends Day 1 of the MIAA Championships in a tie for first place at 5-over par.

"Guys were solid to start the MIAA Championship, it wasn't our best stuff, but still right in the mix, which is nice to see," said Washburn Director of Golf Ronnie McHenry. "A few mistakes and strokes left out there today, and we will need to clean that up over the next two days to have a chance on Wednesday afternoon. They are ready and just need to take it one shot and hole at a time!"

The Ichabods started the day off hot, 9 birdies and an eagle on the front 9. After the opening 18 holes, they sit tied for the lead with Central Oklahoma.

Marco Anderson sits in 3rd after he shot a 71 in the 1st round. Anderson shot a front 9 score of 33(-3) that included an eagle on the seventh hole. 

Freshman Jacob Fratzel went even par on the day that included five birdies, and he is in 3rd place.

Blake Buessing & Myles Tarvin are tied for 15th at 3-over par.

Brody Scafe is 7-over par and is in 42nd place heading into tomorrow.

Tee times for tomorrow's round are set with round 2 starting at 8:30 AM CT. The first Ichabod will tee off around 10:50 AM CT.
