Scene Setter
The Washburn soccer team will return to the road for a pair of games in Colorado as the Lady Blues will face Colorado Christian on Sept. 7 and then take on Colorado Mines on Sept. 8. The Lady Blues are coming off a pair of losses from their opening weekend in play in Springfield, Mo., after falling to Drury and to Missouri S&T in double overtime.

Story lines
• Note the game time and date locations as they have changed since the publications of the schedule cards and posters.
• Washburn is looking for its first win of the season and to snap a five game losing streak.
• Washburn is looking to snap a 14-match winless streak. The Lady Blues' last win was a 2-0 win over Fort Hays State on Feb. 17, 2011.
• Colorado Mines was ranked No. 5 in the nation in the preseason NSCAA top 25 poll but fell out after its 1-0 loss to Montana State-Billings.
• The Lady Blues were picked 12th in the MIAA's preseason coaches poll.
• Friday's meeting with Colorado Christian is the first between the two schools.
• Sunday's meeting with Colorado Mines is the second between the Orediggers and the Lady Blues.
• Senior Tia Stovall was a second team all-MIAA pick for the third season in a row.
• Senior Leah Talley was an honorable mention all-MIAA pick in 2011 and 2010 after earning second team all-MIAA honors as a freshman.
• Washburn head coach Tim Collins is 0-1 against Colorado Mines.
• Junior Caysie Beetley leads the Lady Blues with 10 shots and four shots on goal.
• Stovall and Talley each have three shots.
• Sophomore Tori Fuglister has played all 197 minutes in goal allowing three goals with seven saves and a 1.37 goal against average.
• Washburn has outshot its opponents this season in two games 25 to 14, but has been outscored 3 to 1.
• Washburn is 2-1-1 all-time in four matches played in Colorado picking up wins over Regis in 2008 and Colorado State-Pueblo in 2009.
• The overtime loss to Missouri S&T to 9-8-27 all-time in overtime matches.

About Colorado Christian
The Cougars are 1-1 this season after topping Biola University 1-0 and falling 1-0 to Point Loma Nazarene in their last match on Sept. 1. Danielle Gershon has the lone goal for the Cougars this season and Caitlyn Moses has a 0.50 GAA with 13 saves. The Cougars have been outshot 35 to 5 in two matches this season. The Cougars were 5-17-2 last season.

Friday's meeting will be the first between the two schools.

About Colorado Mines
The Orediggers are 1-1 this season after falling to Montana State-Billings 1-0 in their season opener before beating Northern State 8-0 last time out. Colorado Mines will face Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 6 prior to facing the Lady Blues on Sept. 8.

Series history with Colorado Mines
The Oredigges lead the all-time series 1-0 picking up a 2-0 win on Aug. 28, 2009 in Golden in the only meeting between the two schools.
 
Last Meeting with the Orediggers
(8/28/09) – Golden, Colo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team opened the 2009 season with a 2-0 setback at Colorado Mines.
Washburn could not get anything going offensively as they were outshot by the Orediggers 18 to 5 including a 12-3 mark in the second half. Washburn's Ashley Klone recorded seven saves in net for the Lady Blues allowing the two goals.
Ashley Taylor, Angela Wiseman, Lauren Henry, Tia Stovall and Stefanie Stuever recorded the five shots and Stuever's attempt was the only shot on goal attempted by the Lady Blues.

Last time out for the Lady Blues
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues fell in double overtime with Missouri S&T on Sunday afternoon in Springfield in a 2-1 loss.
Washburn (0-2-0) got on the board in the 29th minute when Caysie Beetley score from 17-yards out on an assist from Tia Stovall for the Lady Blues first goal of the season. Washburn would go on to take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Missouri S&T (1-1-0) tied the score in the 69th minute when Suzy DeWael scored from 15 yards out on an assist from Kelsey Salzman to tie the score at 1-1.
Neither team scored in the first overtime period and Kendra Wood scored the golden goal in the 108th minute for the winner for the Lady Miners off a corner kick giving Missouri S&T the go ahead goal.
Washburn outshot the Lady Miners 13 to 8 in the match and 9 to 6 in shots on goal.
Beetley led the Lady Blues with five shots with three coming on goal.
Tori Fuglister played the entire match in net for Washburn and recorded four saves facing eight shots.
Washburn was whistled for 15 fouls including three yellow cards in the match while the Lady Miners were called for eight fouls.

• Washburn is 77-76-29 (.508) all-time in its tenth season of action.
• In MIAA play, the Lady Blues are 54-51-20 (.512).
• In home matches, the Lady Blues are 37-26-13 (.572).
• On the road, the Lady Blues are 33-43-12 (.448).
• In matches on neutral sites, the Lady Blues are 7-7-4 (.529).

Up next
Washburn will have its home and MIAA opener on Sept. 14 when the Lady Blues will face Emporia State in Yager Stadium at 6 p.m.
