KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn's two senior batters combined for four hits, four runs scored and six driven in as Washburn beat Rockhurst 17-8 Tuesday evening to wrap up the season. The Ichabods won their final two games of the year to finish 11-33 overall.
Senior
Brad Alberts was 3 for 5 with his first homer of the year and the ninth of his career. He also had two doubles to move to 14th in school history with his 29th. That total is the most by any two-year player in Washburn history.
Richard Swan ended his career going 1 for 3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Overall, Washburn had 19 hits and drew nine walks. The 17 runs was a season high for the Ichabods.
Alberts homered in the third inning to give Washburn a 2-0 lead and his RBI double was part of a five-run sixth inning that put Washburn ahead 8-1. The Ichabods put the game away with four runs in the eighth and five more in the ninth.
Taylor Herrington hit a solo home run and was 2 for 5 with three runs scored.

Kyle Carnahan,
Tyler Bailey and
Riley Price also had two hits each. Bailey and
Matt Jackson each had two RBI.
Connor Brady pitched four scoreless innings for Washburn and then four different Ichabods worked out of the bullpen to finish the game. Brady allowed four hits with two strikeouts.
The Hawks (17-24) beat the Ichabods by the same 17-8 score earlier in the year as the two split the season series. They combined to score 50 runs in the two games this year.
Washburn ended the year with 20 triples and was fifth in the nation in total triples. Herrington was second in the nation with eight total, the second highest amount in Washburn single-season history. The Ichabods and Herrington lead the MIAA in triples in the latest statistic report.
