EDMOND, Okla. – The Ichabods gave up six runs in the eighth inning Saturday as they dropped the series finale, 11-2 at Central Oklahoma.

Washburn fell to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in the MIAA while UCO climbed to 9-3 and 5-3 in the league. The Ichabods will return home and attempt to play their home-opener Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Falley Field against Newman. Washburn also has a game scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday against William Jewell.

The Ichabods took advantage of two Broncho errors in the fifth inning to score two and pull within one at 3-2. Riley Price and Kyle Carnahan both reached on UCO miscues and then later scored. Carnahan got credit for a sacrifice fly as the centerfielder dropped the ball and Price scored from third. Carnahan made it to second on the play and then later scored on a single from Taylor Herrington.

Those ended up being Washburn's only two runs and the Bronchos added one each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning and then six in the eighth off five hits and two walks.

Mark Biesma struck out eight Bronchos through the first five innings but suffered the loss as he allowed the first four runs, all earned, off three hits and a walk. He fell to 0-1 as he made his second start.

Wes Jones and Matt Jackson each had two hits for Washburn as the Ichabods totaled five. UCO got 10 hits. Broncho pitcher Jared Sterling went the distance to earn the win. He struck out nine and walked two.
