Opening Notes•    The Washburn Ichabod soccer team will continue its road warrior ways as they continue their five-game road trip with matches at Fort Hays State on Oct. 23 and at Nebraska-Kearney on Oct. 25.
•   Washburn made two trips to Joplin, Mo., to face Missouri Southern last week. The first match originally scheduled for Oct. 15 was moved to Oct. 19 after the first match was canceled 32 minutes in after lighting in the area.
•   Washburn topped the Lions in the rescheduled match 1-0 on Oct. 19.
•   The match with Fort Hays State will not count as an MIAA match. The second match with the Tigers on Nov. 1 in Topeka will count.
•   Washburn head coach
Chris Jones spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Fort Hays State helping the Tigers to a 20-13-5 record in two seasons.
•   Washburn owns a 3-1 win over Nebraska-Kearney on Sept. 20 in Topeka in match which did not count as an MIAA match. The Ichabods and Lopers contest on Oct. 25 in Kearney will count in the MIAA standings.
•   Washburn is in a three-way tie for seventh in the MIAA standings with 10 points with Emporia State and Nebraska-Kearney. Fort Hays State is in sixth in the conference race with 12 points.
•   The top eight teams in the final standings will advance to the MIAA Tournament starting Nov. 3.
 'Bod's and Ends•   The Ichabods have scored 12 goals in 14 matches this season after scoring only eight goals in 18 matches in 2014.
•   The Ichabods are being outshot 169 to 117 this season and 10 to 5 in overtime. Last season in 2014, Washburn attempted only 143 shots while being outshot 305.

Kaitlin Minnich has recorded 59 saves and a .776 save percentage in her first 14 collegiate starts playing all 1,158 minutes this season in net for the Ichabods.

 Noting Fort Hays State•   The Lions are 7-7-0 this season and 4-4-0 in the MIAA entering the match with the Ichabods.
•   The Tigers have gone 1-3-0 in their last four matches all coming on the road with the win coming in a 3-0 victory over Northwest Missouri.
•   Cassi Moosburger and Kylee Loneker each have three goals to lead the team in scoring and Moosburger has added four assists for a team-high 10 points.
•   Kristen Thompson is 5-6-0 in net and has a 1.10 goal against average allowing 12 goals in 11 starts.
•   The team is outshooting its opponents 178 to 168 this season.
 Series history with Fort Hays State•   The Ichabods are 2-4 all-time against the Tigers and have lost the last two meetings.
•   Washburn has been outscored 10 to 6 in six meetings and have gone 0-3-0 in matches played in Hays.
•   Washburn is 2-1 in matches played in Topeka.

The match was tied until the 19th minute when the Tigers' Kylee Loneker scored her second goal of the season putting Fort Hays State on the board. The Tigers added another goal in the 28th minute on Hailey Davey's fifth goal of the season.
Washburn, who finished the season 0-17-1 overall and 0-13-1 in conference play, scored before the half in the 40th minute on an unassisted goal by Hadyn Hutchinson, her first of the season when she took advantage of a Tiger miscue and scored into the lower right hand box of the net trimming the FHSU lead to 2-1 going into the break.
The Tigers (12-4-2, 10-2-2 MIAA) added their final goal in the 51st minute on Kelsey Steffens' seventh goal of the season.
The Ichabods were outshot 25 to 8 in the match including an 18 to 1 advantage by the Tigers in the second half.

Emily Stauffer and Hutchinson each had two shots overall for Washburn. The Ichabods' all-time saves leader,
Tori Fuglister, finished her career with seven saves against the Tigers recording 333 saves.Â
 Noting Nebraska-Kearney•   The Lopers are 4-7-3 and 3-4-1 in the MIAA tied for seventh with 10 points entering an Oct. 23 date with Emporia State in Kearney.
•   The Lopers are led by Montanna Hosterman's 10 points coming on four goals and two assists.
•   Meaghan Pasbrig has three goals and one assist for seven points.
•   Ali Hirschman has 65 saves and a 1.76 goal against average in 13 matches with two shutouts.
 Series history with Nebraska-Kearney•   The Ichabods and the Lopers are tied 2-2-2 in six matches counting the Ichabods' 3-1 win over UNK on Sept. 20 earlier this season.
•   Washburn has outscored the Lopers 12 to 7 in six matches and have gone 1-1 in matches played in Kearney.
 Last meeting with Nebraska-Kearney(Sept. 20,  2015) TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-1 win over Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday afternoon inside Yager Stadium as head coach
Chris Jones picked up his first win as a collegiate head coach.Â
The Ichabods jumped on the board in the 17th minute when
Emily Stauffer recorded her first goal of the season on a corner kick assist from
Morgan El-Attrache staking the Ichabods to a 1-0 lead over the Lopers.
Washburn scored again in the 44th minute when
Michelle Keleher scored her first goal of the season from infront of the goal off an assist from
Cadence Bourne on a free kick 50-yards from the net putting Washburn up 2-0.
Nebraska-Kearney tied the score in the 82nd minute on a 40-yard free kick from Montanna Hosterman for her second goal of the season.
In the 87th minute, Washburn went up 3-1 after
Paige Swanson followed her own rebound off a saved shot from 10 yards out as she scored her first collegiate goal.
Kaitlin Minnich recorded two saves while the Ichabods outshot the Lopers 14 to 7.
The win was the first for the Ichabods snapping a 27-game winless streak dating back to a 2-0 win over Missouri Southern on Oct. 26, 2013 in Topeka. Washburn's three goals in the match was the most by an Ichabod team since scoring three against Northwest Missouri on Oct. 13, 2013.

Chris Jones is 4-7-3 in his first season at Washburn and is only the second coach in the program's history since 2003.
•   Jones spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Fort Hays State where the Tigers went 20-13-5 coaching 11 all-MIAA picks.
•   Prior to joining the Tigers, he was president and coach of the University of Oklahoma's men's club team.
